We’re On the Road!

We left home a little before noon. Right now, it’s a delightful, summer afternoon, with rain gently hitting the windshield. Inside, some are resting, some are working, and one is driving. Dinner is in the crockpot, and we’re so blessed to be on our way!

Speaking of blessed, we want to express our gratefulness to Christian Home Educators of Colorado for spreading the word about the Energize! conference. They are a great group and are there to support homeschoolers all year long.

The drive to Loveland is pretty easy, and we’ll get in tonight, Lord willing. I’m looking forward to seeing mountains again!

We’re excited to see what the Lord will do this weekend.

Love,
Sarah

A comment here on sweatshirts. Although we have had delightfully cool weather in Kansas for the past few days, it warmed up a bit today, and we're running the air conditioning in the bus. Sometimes, people get on the cool side, so thus the reason.

Looking for the BEST!

We live in the Kansas City area and appreciate it when we find someone who is a skilled professional. People who take their work seriously and strive for excellence are such a blessing to do business with. Some of you live in the KC area and have experience with people you consider excellent. Would you share their names, your experience with them, what they do, and their contact information with us? Every sort of work discipline would be appreciated.

We’d also be interested in hearing about Christians around the country who are fantastic at what they do. Do you have a story to tell? We’d love to hear about them.

Maybe you know of young adults who have a remarkable business that you can tell us about.

Be sure to include a telephone number for the person you are recommending, and tell us what your experience has been with them.

We will not be posting your responses nor their contact information. It is for our use and on occasion referring others to them as appropriate.  If you prefer, you could use our Contact Us page.

Coming soon: Buying a House Debt-Free

We’re getting excited. A new book is almost launched.

For a long time Dad’s dream has been to encourage families that it is possible for young men to purchase a home debt-free before marriage. Yes, three of the Maxwell guys have done it so far, but did you know there are other young men around the United States who have too?

Living in a world where mortgages and debt are the norm, one may feel this is not possible. Take heart. In this dynamic new book, my parents share practically how it is achievable.

Watch for Monday’s post about one young man who purchased his home without debt (and he’s not a Maxwell!).

Watch for Tuesday’s announcement on the new book. You’ll be able to pre-order it too.

Be ready to climb for new heights in this debt-free adventure!

Titus2 Planning Day

Saturday, February 1st, we did something very unusual. We spent a day together to seek the Lord, brainstorm, and plan Titus2’s direction for this year. The results? Amazing! God so blessed. One of the most exciting things we came away with was new direction for conferences. This year’s conference is called Energize! We have brand new sessions and a new format as well. We can’t wait to share as that unfolds.

It was a special time of talking together as a family and uniting eight opinions!

Love,
Sarah

We set up the projector and used it as our notes whiteboard, with Dad typing in ideas as we had them. It helped to visualize what we discussed.

We had snacks at lunch (since we’d had a big breakfast), and then Dad took us out to eat late afternoon. Have to keep those creative juices flowing!

Celebrating 15 Years with Titus2!

Managers of Their Homes
Managers of Their Homes

January 19th, 1999, we published Managers of Their Homes.

The reason for the book was simple. Ladies frequently asked Mom how she got everything done, and they especially wanted to know how she had time to sew matching outfits for the girls when she was a homeschooling mom of eight. She shared her schedule with them, but there was so much more to her schedule than just activities in a time block. Then she would write little sticky notes to explain this or that. One day, Mom told Dad that it would be easier to write a book than to write all those notes. Mom wasn’t serious, but Dad’s “I think you should,” was the beginning. Thus, Managers of Their Homes (MOTH) was born. Twenty-four busy moms tested the book, and since it worked for them, we prayed it would work for others.

Now, 15 years later, MOTH is a mainstay Titus2 product, and we have boxes of testimonies and countless e-mails from moms around the world that the book transformed their lives through time management. The unique, color-coded Scheduling Kit that accompanies the book is hands-on and has allowed moms to create their personal family’s schedule.

Memories of those early days included collating the first printing of Scheduling Kits by hand, going to the print shop to compile books and Scheduling Kits, shipping books out, and embarking on our first ministry trip in January 2000. We were excited, and we are still excited.

We praise our merciful Lord and Savior for entrusting Titus2 to our family. Thank you for rejoicing with us! We look forward to many more years.

End of Year Inventory

For those of you who have small businesses, you know what the end of year means: inventory, making any necessary year-end purchases, holding a corporate meeting, going over financials–among other things. Inventory was never my favorite part of the task, but it was something that had to be done. As our product lineup has increased, so has the time it takes to do inventory. In 2012, however, and again in 2013, Dad and Mom successfully tackled inventory, along with entering discrepancies into our financial software. They make an awesome team!
