Melanie and Baby Max Are Still Waiting

Things continue to be in the waiting mode. Baby Max will be 35 weeks tomorrow. Praise the Lord! This means if he can make it to the 35 week mark before being born, no automatic NICU stay. Wouldn’t it be amazing if he was a strong, healthy baby and could come home soon after his arrival?! We continue to trust and wait. We’re grateful for the nurses and doctor who are taking wonderful care of Melanie and Baby.

Last night, the girls went up to the hospital and enjoyed a visit and dinner with a family who came to visit. Abby and one of their girls were in the NICU at the same time together six years ago, and the families have been friends since. The little girl is wearing the pink shirt in the third picture (and next to Bethany).

Happy Independence Day!

I’m grateful for all those who have served and are serving our country. I’m grateful for our founding fathers who saw how important liberty is. And I’m grateful for the Lord Jesus Who saved my soul!

Serving Jesus,

Kindness from a Nurse and Packing the Bag

The day was a quiet one for Melanie and Baby. We continue to be grateful for your prayers! Mid-day, Melanie’s nurse asked her if she had any lunch guests coming, and she said no (Nathan was working). The nurse wondered if she would like to go outside and eat lunch together, and Melanie was very happy about that. The nurse pushed her down to a picnic table, and they enjoyed the stunning weather. Truly, our weather today felt like Colorado: crisp, almost cool, and breezy. Totally delightful.

On the home front, Anna worked with the little girls on pulling out baby things. They also put together a diaper bag of things for Baby Brother.

We continue to trust and wait, and Baby Max is another day stronger!

Love,
Sarah

“And therefore will the LORD wait,
that he may be gracious unto you,

and therefore will he be exalted,
that he may have mercy upon you:

for the Lord is a God of judgment:
blessed are all they that wait for him.”

Isaiah 30:18

God is Good … And the Waiting Continues

Things are still in the waiting stage. Yesterday, Nathan and Melanie toured the NICU. Their prayer request is that Baby Max waits to be born until he’s ready to go home, thus skipping a NICU stay.

The doctor and hospital are keeping close tabs on Melanie and the Baby. I guess this little one will have a July birthday. Pretty perfect—Abigail, Bethany, and Christina have birthdays in May, June, and August, so he’ll fit right in there.

Dad and Mom ran errands in Kansas City today, and they brought lunch in to Melanie (Chipotle!). It was a special time. While they were there, Melanie got a delivery of flowers and chocolates :).

Thank you for your prayers! We’re so grateful!

they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;

Thoughts from Melanie Maxwell

Hello Friends!!

Thank you so much for praying for “Little Guy,” me, and our whole family!

We are all doing very well!

Though it was quite a shock to have my water break early Friday morning, this is a road we have traveled before. I’m working not to set mental time frames. Baby needs to stay inside. That’s the goal for now.

It’s tough, though, not to start thinking about him arriving…or not to think with worry how long this wait might be and how things will go with the logistics of me being on bedrest.

The break is kind of nice. 🙂 I have started knitting a hat on a loom for new baby. It keeps my hands busy. I also enjoy visiting with the hospital staff as they come through.

The first morning here, I was chatting with the lady cleaning my room and mentioned that I really wanted to go home. She looked me in the eye and said in broken English, “Talk to God. He controls all things!” What a sweet reminder!

It is such a blessing to have Nathan’s family helping with the girls. I can relax knowing they are in good care!

I have had good company—family has come to visit, and I have had daily visits (so far) from my girls. We were also blessed Saturday night by friends bringing up a home cooked dinner.

While this road is not what I would have chosen—we are truly blessed with love and support as we travel it!

Please pray for wisdom in the decisions as they come, and that Baby will be born healthy and strong!

Love in Christ,
Melanie

Sunday Baby Maxwell Update

Time for another baby update. Things are still quiet, and nothing really has changed. Melanie continues to rest (in the hospital), as they wait and pray.

Thank you for your Baby Max prayers. Each day he stays in the womb is good. He is being monitored.

We are grateful we can trust the Lord in every aspect of our lives. He is faithful and will continue to guide us!

Love,
Sarah

Baby Maxwell Update

Thank you all for faithfully praying. We’re grateful for your support.

Yesterday, the doctor wanted an ultrasound to make sure everything was good. Baby looked great! Melanie still doesn’t have any labor, but that’s not totally unusual. With Abigail, Melanie’s water broke, and they waited in the hospital for 10 days before an emergency c-section became necessary.

Nathan came home last night for a few hours and spent some time with his girls, while one of the family had dinner with Melanie at the hospital. This morning, John and Anna took the girls up to the hospital for a visit. It was a special time!

They’re taking it one day at a time. Melanie is doing well. There’s plenty of resting and waiting going on right now.

Thanks for praying!

Sarah
