Joseph and Elissa Maxwell: Wedding Pictures, Part 4

The joy continued, and we loved talking with our guests! What a blessing that they came to share in Joseph and Elissa’s special day. There were many who had driven or flown quite a distance to come. We appreciate their sacrifice of time and resources.

The reception continued the celebration of these two lives joined together. The light dinner served was delicious and afforded guests extra time to fellowship. JandE-202

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Maxwell were introduced, and then they shared some words with the group, along with thanking both sets of parents for all they did raising them.

While Joseph and Elissa greeted guests, the truck-decorating committee was hard at work. John, as a very benevolent best man, let his truck be used.  Our friend Dave did an amazing job with the writing (he thinks fonts!).

John rented a helium cylinder, so Anna manned that. They filled the entire cab with balloons.

Here’s an updated Maxwell family picture, with our newest addition, Elissa Maxwell.

After the reception, Christopher took some bride/groom photos. Love,
Sarah

Joseph and Elissa chose sand as their symbol instead of a unity candle. I love the sand idea: it shows how the two lives become so intertwined they’re inseparable! You can’t sort the different colored sand out once it’s mixed.

Joseph and Elissa’s Story: Part 2

If you missed Part 1, you can read it here.

Soon there after, we began a serious-friendship-with-the-purpose-of-marriage stage.

p 4-2The frequent visits I made out there, along with e-mails and phone calls, showed how similar Elissa and I were in our beliefs, convictions, and mannerisms.

5Yes, during that time, we began to fall in love.

7t 2-2We stood in awe of how the Lord answered every prayer for unity, knitted hearts, and direction in our relationship! We began officially courting in April.  On May 22nd, I made a surprise visit and asked Elissa to marry me, and she said “yes!”

We had a delightful summer planning our wedding, enjoying visits, and counting down the days to our wedding.  September 6th, we became united in marriage.

We are so grateful for the Lord’s provision and blessing in our lives! We praise Him for the deep friendship, unity, commitment, love, and the bonds of marriage that we now share. Both of us are also grateful to our parents for how they raised us in the ways of the Lord and how they supported us through our relationship.

r5-2Elissa and I look back and see how the Lord used our single years to strengthen our relationships with Jesus and also to prepare us for marriage if that was His will for us. I really enjoyed traveling with my family, helping in the Titus2 ministry, and working on my home. Elissa loved helping her family as a daughter and a sister at home, teaching music lessons, and learning new skills each year to prepare her for whatever the Lord had for her later in life.

Now, I’m excited to introduce you to my wife, Elissa Maxwell.

1702And for those who wondered why we didn’t share before, I felt it best for her family’s privacy not to make it public until our wedding day.

Elissa and I are anxious to discover what the Lord has for us as a team for His glory!

Serving Jesus,
Joseph & Elissa

Joseph and Elissa Maxwell: Wedding Pictures Part 1

Saturday, September 6th was finally here. It was a day my brother and almost-sister-in-law had been counting down to. Yes, it was wedding day! It was a day that promised to bring much excitement.

By 8:45 am, most of the bridal party was at the church. As we arrived, the flower lady stopped in, and wow, did the flowers look gorgeous. We girls went to our getting-ready room and unloaded our dresses, bags, and hair stuff. Our hair stylist was there and ready to begin Elissa’s hair. Meanwhile, Mary and Elissa’s sisters started on their own hair. Anna and I, while waiting for our hair to be styled, enjoyed talking and observing the fun.

Our girls’ room became busier as all the nieces and nephews joined us and sisters-in-law too.

The Day Before: Part 4

Even with our crazy-busy summer, my mom and sisters managed to plan and prepare for the rehearsal dinner, with help from our friends. They chose the colors of turquoise and yellow as their theme, along with sunflowers that were fresh picked. Yes, you read that right. Tuesday afternoon, the day before we left for the wedding, John took Mary and a friend to a sunflower field. The owner allows people to cut sunflowers for a donation. From there, Mary diligently took care of them, got them in buckets (with help from Anna), and successfully transported them all the way to the wedding. They added a cheerful touch to the evening!

After dinner, we had a time of prayer for Joseph and Elissa. What a joy! Then, John shared some great stories from the past, along with a bit of advice to Elissa. Joseph finished with a special song he’d written for Elissa. They are such a sweet couple!

We are so grateful to our friends who helped prepare dinner and serve it. They blessed us!

Now we’re done with the day before, and we’ll be on to wedding pictures and finishing out “the story.”
