Yesterday evening was our first night at the Leavenworth County Fair! We had never been to the County Fair before. Nathan and his wife, Melanie, rented a booth as an evangelistic opportunity to give out free soft drinks and a gospel tract. We’re helping man the booth. The plan is to be there each evening Tuesday through Friday, and then all day Saturday.
The Fair organizers put us in a great location, and we had a lot of traffic. The booth was a hit with young and old alike. Throughout the evening, we gave out over four hundred sodas, and most people were given (and accepted) two tracts with each soda. The truly amazing part of the tract distribution was how many people said “Thank you!” Of all those sodas, I do not remember a single person rejecting a soda because of the tract, or simply rejecting the tract itself. We started tearing down around 9:00 (even though the fair closes at 10:00), because we had run out of Pepsi, Sprite, and water and just had Diet Pepsi left.
Besides giving out tracts, a number of us had opportunities to share directly about eternity and Jesus with people.
The evening was VERY warm, and the temperatures are supposed to be close to 100 all week with high humidity! Nice and hot.
Now, all we can do is pray that people will read the tracts and will respond to the call of the Holy Spirit!
In Christ Jesus,
Joseph Maxwell
