No Longer Recommending

After glowingly telling on the blog about the LETSCOM U8I bluetooth headphones we use, we had quality problems with them. Last month, my first pair totally died. I felt 6.5 years of almost daily use, considering they cost less the $20, was reasonable. So I ordered a new set. Then two weeks after that, I ordered yet another set to have paired with my computer. 

Both of the new sets had problems. One wouldn’t stay paired. The other didn’t offer a verbal warning when the battery got low. I contacted the company about the problem with the first set, and they quickly said it was in warranty, and they would replace it. 

I also asked about the pairing issue, thinking maybe it was an incompatibility problem with my computer. They gave me a list of steps to work through before trying it again. I still had the problem. Then I decided to use it with my phone rather than the computer. It didn’t say paired with my phone either so that said it was a defective set.

That first replacement set arrived today It was to replace the headphones that didn’t give the low battery warning. Would you believe, when I went to use them, they wouldn’t stay paired. I was shocked. It was the same problem that my second new set of earbuds had.

Because of three defective sets of new earbuds, I decided to send the two I purchased back to Amazon since I was within the 30 day return window.

If you purchased a set, and it is defective, and it is outside the Amazon return window, I can say the company is good to work with. They were offering me a refund or to try another set. 

Since I had highly recommended these headphones, I wanted to let you know right away about these recent issues and withdraw my recommendation. Has anyone ordered a new set and had them work well? Does anyone have another brand you like? I need to try some others now.

  1. I bit the bullet & bought the Apple AirPods Pro. They are AMAZING. I understood why the price point is what it is. Next time it is a gift giving time or you want to treat yourself swing by COSTCO for a pair especially when they are running a special.

    1. Thank you for the suggestion and recommendation, Cathie. Maybe that will be my next try. I liked the wired, bluetooth headphones because of the much lower price, and I didn’t have to be concerned about dropping one somewhere that would ruin it. Steve, and the girls all have Apple AirPods and are happy with them.

      1. Can’t recommend Apple AirPods highly enough. I won’t ever use a cheaper option again like I used to. They don’t even compare IMO.

  2. Hi Teri, I bought two of the ones you recommended soon after.They seemed just what I was looking for. I love them. I love that they are designed to stay put and the over the ear thing doesn’t hurt my occipital nerve. I can still hear that people are talking to me. I use them a lot and music sounds great.I’m picky about music. I like to identify each instrument. I really hope they keep going. If they work for a year I’ll be happy. God Bless, Nancy

    1. That is very good news to me. I was concerned about people getting bad product on our recommendation. I am hopeful that since the two headsets you received worked well to start with, they will continue that way.

    1. I am sorry they are having quality control problems. From what Nancy said, her two pairs were fine, and the three I received were all defective. Yes, all is well here. With Sarah’s concussion recovery and more limited screen time, it is harder for her to get the blog posts done, and Steve and I aren’t as good at it as she is!

I did order a pair after your previous post and haven’t been able to get them to pair with my BlueTooth (I ordered a second pair of a different brand and had just been using those for now). I figured it was my error and I’d just try again when I had time (life has been REALLY busy!)

    1. I would encourage you to contact Letscom about the headphones not staying paired, if they are outside the return window from where you ordered them. From a couple of others posting here, we know that Letscom has some headphones that work! With their willingness to replace or refund on my defective headphones, I would expect them to do the same for other customers.

  6. Thanks for being so forthright about this! I ordered those headphones about a month or so ago and thankfully they have been working fine. I’ve enjoyed “reading” as I do other tasks around the house and when I go for my morning walks. It’s good to know that the company is good to work with, should anything happen.

    I am sorry that the earbuds are not longer working.
    Some that My family and I have really enjoyed are the Racon wireless earbuds. They seem to be really good. Although, they are quite pricey.

    1. I looked at the Racon wireless earbuds just now. They seem to be like the Apple Airpods – no wire connecting them to each other. They are more expensive than the Letscom ones I have, but not nearly as much as Apple Airpods.

  8. Hi Teri, thank you for this update. I immediately ordered a pair after reading about yours. The sound quality and fit are very good. However, the “pause” function doesn’t work, and they do not stay paired when I get an incoming call. Keep us posted if you find something else that works well. Thank you for the blog and sharing your lives with us.

    1. I encourage you to contact Letscom and get a replacement or refund. They seem to be a good company to work with. After this experience, I doubt I will post on anything else I try!

  9. Hello! I also bought a pair of the headphones after reading your previous post 🙂 Thankfully, they have been working great for me, and I use them hours every day for my online college classes. The microphone for speaking isn’t the greatest quality but that’s to be expected with the low price of the headphones. As far as sound and pairing them with my devices, they’ve been working very well and I have no complaints:-)
