14 years ago on March 21st, Nathan and Melanie’s firstborn daughter arrived, Susannah Joy Maxwell. But her stay here on earth was only three days. She bypassed all the sorrow and hurt in this world and went straight to the presence of Jesus. Although we grieved our loss, Heaven gained a beautiful jewel.
It’s hard to believe Susannah would turn 14 today. But time in Heaven isn’t the same as time here. “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4). May we have such an eternal perspective to see time here is short. We must share Christ with a lost and dying world.
We love you, Susannah, and we miss you! But we’ll see you again. One day. Maybe soon.
Love,
Sarah
If you want to see a slideshow of Susannah’s short life, you can find it below or at this link if you are receiving this via email (music was written by Joseph, along with the other siblings accompanying).
“… the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away;
blessed be the name of the LORD” (Job 1:21).
I thought of her and her story today as I was traveling and saw the blooming trees. This year is the 30th year (March 15) that my niece was born “already in Glory”
These angels are never forgotten.
Thank you, Jamye. So incredibly sweet of you to remember! Also how beautiful you’re still remembering your niece 30 years later.
Your yearly tribute to Susannah’s life is always touching and affirms how precious all life is. May God bless you with peace as you remember her and wonderful anticipation for a reunion in heaven some day.
Thank you! She was so beautiful!
I watched the video. How precious. This was a needful reminder for me this morning to enjoy the four little ones running noisily about me. They are each a blessing, and every busy, tiring day, is so worth it, just to have them with me, to have them happy, healthy, and growing strong.
Motherhood is such a precious treasure. May we never forget, not even for a moment.
Yes, life is precious, and it’s a good reminder of how short life is and to make each moment count!
Thank you, Sarah & family, for sharing this. Life is precious! What a testimony to give to others of the grace God has and is giving you through this earthly trial.
I’m reading the Moody series books to my younger brothers & sisters. Amazingly, a couple days ago, we began book 4 -Spring with the Moody’s- which you dedicated to Susannah. (By the way, my siblings are thrilled with the books!)
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Cor. 1:3-4
Yes, Abigail, I was in the middle of Book #4 when we lost Susannah. Thanks for your kind comment.
I cannot believe it has been 14 years. She’s such a beautiful baby, and I see so much of each of her siblings in her. What a wonderful tribute.
I know, right? 14 years! So incredible how fast time goes! I think she would look a lot like Tina!
Such a sweet remembrance of such a precious life!
