A Very Special Gift, Holy, Holy, Holy

Christmas Eve was a very, very special day as we all gathered together, including Christopher and Anna Marie’s crew. That was a gift in and of itself!

Before I share (many) pictures from that time, we have something else first. In our traveling days, we often shared at the weekend conferences through music. Joseph arranged and sang lead on Holy, Holy, Holy which became one of my dad’s favorites. Anna, Jesse, and Mary also were part of the song.

Joseph and Elissa had the idea to record the hymn and give it as a gift to Dad and Mom. So, a few weeks ago, they arranged a time where Joseph, Anna, Jesse, and Mary were all available to record and lay down the tracks. Prior to that, they practiced separately. The secret was kept perfectly, and Dad had no idea. Christmas Eve morning arrived, and the song had been mastered and ready for the reveal. Anna and Joseph paired a bluetooth speaker with Anna’s phone, and the speaker sat inside a gift bag, ready to be opened. After some of the grandkids opened gifts, Joseph and Jesse suggested Dad and Mom take a turn. As Dad pulled the speaker out, the song began playing (Anna sat across the living room, with her phone open, and it all worked perfectly..) Soon, the room quieted into a hush as we listened, and some tears were shed.

So, here it is. Enjoy and be blessed! (If it doesn’t play for you below, you can go directly to this link.)

“… Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come (Revelation 4:8).”

  1. Wow…beautiful! What a beautiful gift from the heart and “sacred harp” (voice). This song expresses so much about our reverence and awe of our mighty, holy God, and has always moved me, but I was (and am) in tears.

  2. Wow! That was absolutely stunning. I am sitting here listening, with tears welling up. What an amazing gift to give your dad!!

  5. Oh, my! I got goosebumps listening to it! Praise His Holy Name! Maybe you should pray about and consider recording an entire acapella album? (In your spare time, of course. 🙂 )

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you, Heather. I am sure they will be encouraged by your words. Music practice ended when Joseph got married. Too many higher priorities now with their own young families.

  6. BEAUTIFUL, JUST BEAUTIFUL!! Such a wonderful idea. Thanks for sharing so we could hear it and enjoy it as well!!

  7. What a precious gift – “I have no greater joy, than to HEAR that my children walk in truth.”

God’s blessings to you all in the new year!
    In His merciful love,

  9. Another blessing given from the Maxwell family. This has been a sad week losing my pastor ( for over 40 years of my life) to Covid. Yet, hearing your children sing reminded me of the joy he must know now worshipping in the presence of our Lord. The simple acapella version was so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
