Steve’s Health Update

On March 6th, Steve had a heart catheterization that resulted in two stents in coronary arteries, one with 99% and another with 90% blockage and the knowledge that another artery is 76% blocked. Since then he has made tremendous health progress.

After we shared about Steve’s heart event via Titus2, we were blessed through the blog comments and Seriously responses with the names of several doctors’ resources to study regarding the possibility of reversing heart disease. We read a lot of their resources and implemented some massive—to us—dietary changes.

As a result, Steve has lost 24 pounds so far. His blood pressure, that was high but unmedicated, is now normal. His overall cholesterol has dropped 91 points, and LDL cholesterol went down 66 points, without being on a statin drug.

Steve feels great and looks great too! More to come on exactly what changes we made and other important things we learned.

Trusting Jesus,

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple
of the Holy Ghost
which is in you, which ye have
of God, and ye are not your own?”
1 Corinthians 6:19

  1. Well done Steve, congratulations!
Never easy to lose weight especially as you get older.
Do keep us posted on the resources that worked for you.
Many thanks and hope Ellie and the family are all well.
    Sending much love in him

  2. Teri, what a scare your family had with Steve’s heart event. It is so encouraging that you allowed this to be for good and were able to turn things around and minister to many others. So looking forward to more details in your next installation.

  3. Do you mind sharing specifically what approach you used? Is he eating 100% plant-based? I want to help my husband with his high cholesterol and BP, but there is so much conflicting information about what is healthy these days! Congrats to him on losing weight and improving his numbers. That takes discipline!

  4. We are so glad to hear it!!! Praise the Lord!!

Still praying for you Steve! and the family!!

    God Bless you all!!

  5. Good job! Hard to change things around, but proud of you all for pressing through!! Looking forward to hearing more details of what you changed.

  6. Hooray! It’s a hard road, but taking positive steps to encourage better health and seeing results is such a wonderful reward. I applaud your diligent research and commitment to your goal. What an excellent example it sets.

    1. Jesus tells us in Phil 4:13 that we can do All things through Christ Who strengthens us. We are grateful for His strength and help through this process.

  7. Praise be to the Lord! He is so gracious and merciful in healing! I have had similar results from following a whole foods, plant-based diet since 2016. I’ve lost 25 lbs, maintained a lower than “normal” blood pressure, and lowered my total cholesterol 76 points. It was totally the Lord putting me on the road to health, and I give all glory to Him for the education, strength, and natural foods that He provides. I would love to hear about what worked for you, but I am most excited that the Lord has chosen, in His sovereign will, to heal Steve so that he may tell others about how to be in Christ, as this is the way to everlasting health and life. Thank you for your encouragement in the Lord over all these years. May God continue to use you for His glory!

    1. That’s really great, Kris. We plan to write up and share on the blog what we have been doing soon. You are right. “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). We are ready to go when Jesus calls us home, but want to live for Him with every breath He gives us here.

  8. So grateful to read this today!! Praise God for the strength and wisdom He gives to us in difficult situations.

Like many, I’m also looking forward to reading about the changes you’ve made. So many of us, as we age, find ourselves in similar situations health-wise and it’s always good to glean from others what works to bring about positive changes!

Praying for Sarah and her sweet Ellie!
