Maxwell Cousins Photo Session 2019

Anna Marie today is sharing about the Maxwell cousin photo session. — Sarah

What began as a first birthday gift for Abigail ten years ago has become an annual event anticipated by a growing number of Maxwell children! I love seeing how Christopher creates a special experience for each child, connecting with them and capturing their sweet personalities.

First, he takes individual photos in two sets–one with natural light, the other in our living room “studio.”

Then we do some various groupings: families, father/child, mother/child, etc.

At the end, we sometimes do a fun “extra” shot or two, and I think those always are among my favorites!

We are thrilled and anticipation is running high. I’m feeling really well at this point. It’s been sweet to see the children’s excitement–Lydia’s hand slipping over to rest on my stomach to feel for the baby during Bible time, or the children asking (again) when we will be able to feel it kicking, or talking about names, etc. We appreciate prayers as this new little one develops! Baby is due February 2020.

Love,
Anna Marie

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and
that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm 139:13-14

  1. Congrats and praying children are definitely blessing and they are lucky one’s to have godly parents

  2. Oh, love it! And CONGRATULATIONS, Anna Marie and family!!! We are expecting number 4 ourselves early in August and our other 3 love to feel baby and talk about when baby will be with us too. 🙂

    1. Congratulations to you, too! We delighted in our first pregnancy, but having older siblings excited about it too adds a whole new special dimension!

  3. Congratulations! My sister and I, and our children, attended one of your conferences when Christopher and Anna Marie we’re engaged. It’s been fun to watch their family grow all these years!

    1. How fun – hard to believe it’s been almost nine years since our engagement! We are so grateful for God’s blessings in our family!

  4. Wow! Great pictures. Is this the first we are hearing of the new baby? Pretty sneaky. Congratulations!

    1. Thanks, Nancy! I think Christopher does a great job on the photos, too. And yes, we have fun thinking of different ways to do announcements. 🙂

    1. We are truly so blessed! I think Christopher does amazing with the photos. 🙂

  5. Congratulations! When I saw that this was the post, I thought “Could Anna Marie be pregnant again?” (Because in the past she has announced through the cousins photo shoot.) As I looked at the photos, I eliminated that idea, and then when I saw the photo, at first I didn’t realize it was a baby announcement! As the realization dawned on me, I couldn’t believe it!
That is very exciting, and I love watching their family grow!
It seems like just yesterday Elizabeth was born!

    1. 🙂 Yes, that’s how we announced two years ago when we were expecting Elizabeth. And it’s funny, this baby is due right the same time she was! If you remember our photo announcing the pregnancy with Daniel, with all the birthday months lined up from February to July… well, now we are getting a cluster in February! Ruthanne is excited for another possibility at a birthday twin. 🙂

      1. Yes, I remember Elizabeth’s announcement, and that she was new in February!
Looking forward to the baby’s birth!

  6. I was so excited to read your news! In fact, before I scrolled down to the “announcement picture” and saw the pic of Christopher’s family, I thought to myself “hmm, I wonder when they will make another announcement (; Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the next picture! Congrats to the entire family!

  7. Congratulations! I’ve been watching posts very carefully lately, not wanting to miss a “big sister” t-shirt or other discreet clue.
If you don’t mind my asking, Anna Marie, did you make the girls’ dresses in the pictures? And if so, would you mind sharing the pattern info?

    1. Well, you found the clue! 🙂

I made the dresses, though it’s funny, not for our girls. 🙂 I made Ruthanne’s for Abigail, and Lydia’s for my sister years ago – and now it’s so fun to have them for our girls as I have less time available for sewing!

      Ruthanne’s is Butterick 3762
      Lydia’s is Simplicity 9846

      1. Thank you! I was able to find the patterns for both on ebay and ordered them for future sewing for my daughter!

  8. What beautiful pictures ! It is such a blessing to see these children together and the joy of the Lord shining on their faces !
Congratulations Christopher and Anna Marie ! It is always a pleasure to see such announcements ! May our Father be with you during this pregnancy and may His hand rest upon this little one.
Anna-Marie, you always wear such beautiful dresses, and I know you sew a lot. Would you be willing to share which patterned you used for this dress, as you have time, of course? Thank you in advance.
    Blessing from France !

    1. Thank you, Elisabeth!

For this dress I used Butterick 4440, although I changed the sleeves and neckline and added a collar. The base pattern has worked great for all aspects of motherhood, being somewhat high-waisted and loose enough to accommodate pregnancy, but with the tie in back (and button-front) it works well all other times, too!

      1. Thank you so much ! You are such an encouragement to me. May our Father bless you.

  9. Congratulations, that’s fabulous news, my husband and I are expecting blessing number two in September, and we delight in seeing our four year old daughter getting extremely excited about the baby.

    1. Congratulations to you too! Your baby will be here soon and I can imagine how thrilled your daughter is and will be!

  10. Congratulations, Anna Marie!! We are praying for you! Such beautiful photos of precious children.

  11. Congratulations! We have never met any of you Maxwell’s in person, but it sure seems like it through these wonderfully encouraging posts! Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell must be beaming with true amazement at God and His love for your growing generational family! Anna Marie, I believe your daughter Lydia was born on my Lydia’s birthday 3-26. My Lydia Joy is 10… Your love for Jesus truly shines on your face as you delight in your husband and rear those lovely children. I wasn’t blessed with growing up in a Christian home, but by God’s grace He has saved me and my husband to raise our 6 blessings in the Lord Jesus Christ. Your example of modesty is one of true virtue and femininity. Your example with all of what Mrs. Maxwell has been teaching me through her books, writings, and emails has been more than helpful – but most beneficial in my walk of obedience toward our Lord Jesus. Thank you for your faithfulness! God Bless the precious baby in your womb! We look forward to witnessing another blessing into the Maxwell Family! Love in the truth – John 17:17

    1. What a very sweet, encouraging note! It was a joy to read of God’s work in your life and family. I’m so thankful for the grace and mercy of the Lord and His patience with me as I do so desire to have all the qualities you believe me to have – but I fall very short of what I know the Lord wants of me. That’s the blessing of praying for and encouraging one another as we press toward the mark together (Phil 3:14)! God bless you as you raised your precious children… in due season we shall reap if we faint not!

  12. Wonderful pictures! Congratulations, great way to announce your newest little one!
We’re expecting our 9th blessing at the beginning of February, with a possibility of a shared birthday. Two of our boys (ages 6 & 3) are birthday buddies. Our children think having a sibling born on your birthday is the ultimate gift.

    1. That is great! We have two that share birthdays with cousins, but none that share sibling birthdays yet. Being due mid-February gives a good possibility with Ruthanne (18th) or Elizabeth (23rd) which Ruthanne thinks is very exciting! 🙂

  13. Congratulations, so happy for you all. Like the others, been watching for an announcement!! 🙂

  14. So happy for you! So exciting another baby is coming! Will pray for you and your baby!

  15. Congratulations!
Are your girls using the Ergo children’s baby doll carriers? What brand of baby dolls do you prefer? I like that larger size. 🙂 Blessings to you in Jesus’ Name!

    1. Thank you, Anna! Good questions. We thought others might be interested as well, so watch for a blog post about baby dolls and carriers soon!

  16. Congratulations!

Last night as my husband read the 3rd Moody book to our children, I heard the cheering as they Moody family learned they were having twins. We rejoice with your family as God gives a new precious baby for His glory!

    1. Thank you! That was a fun comment to read! I’m reading the Moody books to our kiddos (we are in book #5) and I think one of their first comments was how fun it would be to find out we are going to have twins. 😉 Whether one or two, we are excited!

  17. Wonderful news. I am so happy for all of you. I enjoy watching the family grow by leaps and bounds!.

  18. Congratulations!!! So sweet announcement picture!

We have birthday clusters in my family, too. Our children have 8 cousins (and counting ?) who all have been born during summer. This July we will be having three parties to attend and one baby dedication for the youngest member of the family. I just love these occasions!

Those baby carriers come in very handy. I had similar to yours with our youngest. I managed to get some house work done while he napped in the carrier.

    1. Thank you! It was fun to plan out the announcement picture. In a way, it was Ruthanne and Lydia’s idea; they were wearing their babies in carriers and got Elizabeth set up, then told me we just need the new baby in mine. They weren’t thinking of an announcement photo, but the idea resonated with Christopher and me! 🙂

  19. So excited for your sweet family!! May the Lord bless your pregnancy and this precious child. <3

  20. Yay! Congratulations! So many adorable faces in this post! How many takes did it take to get that picture of all the kids with all of them smiling and looking? 😉
