Danny the Workhorse, Chester the Rooster, Snoopy the Sheep, and Shadow the Barn Cat by Helga Mosser are top favorites in Grandma’s book bag. They are delightful, hardback storybooks about farm animals that teach a character lesson.
The lady who writes this series is a homeschool mom, and she told me the stories came from real-life events that she observed on her grandpa’s farm. The illustrations are superb, and we enjoy the continuity of the farm, characters, and animals from one story to the next. We are eagerly waiting for one on Dolly the Milk Cow.

and cattle after their kind, and every thing that
creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and
God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:25
I love good children’s literature! The art work looks gorgeous! Thx for sharing!
The art work is gorgeous! I really like that in addition to the story line.
Thank you again for sharing your favorites! I was so happy to see we can get these through our library system. Cant wait to read them, sound wonderful.
Hope you enjoy them.
There are so many wonderful children’s books out there.
Yes! Sadly many that aren’t wonderful too.
Thank you for sharing! I’m going to order these for my girls.
I am sure you will enjoy them!
Mrs. Maxwell: I so appreciate your sharing of children’s books. My parents will become ‘great’ grandparents in January, with God’s good grace. I look forward to gifting them with some of your favorites as I start a Grama’s Book Bag for my own mom. Merry Christmas! Amy
That’s exciting about your parents becoming great grandparents soon. I think you will enjoy giving your mom children’s books for a book bag for her to read to her grandchildren and great grandchildren from.
Thank you for introducing us to these books! I read some sample pages at the publisher’s website that you linked, and was fascinated by the storylines. Excellent for children! The art work is beautiful, too.
If you decide to get the books, I hope you enjoy them.
I’m thinking I may need these for the times we go to the shelter and read to the children!
Thanks for sharing!
J
That would be a great use for them!
