Anna Marie’s Favorite Christmas Cookie Recipe

Y’all, I think we’re officially in the Christmas season! I’m excited to share with you Anna Marie’s favorite cookie recipe. It’s simple to make and easy to include littles.

Vanilla Butter Cookies

1 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups flour

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and mix well. Add salt and flour (1 cup at a time). Form 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Stamp with cookie stamp. Bake at 350° about 8 minutes or until edges are barely turning golden. Enjoy about 3 dozen cookies.

(Note: Anna Marie’s cookie stamps are Rycraft brand.)

and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

  1. Oh, wow! Those look so good, and so easy. Thank you for sharing the recipe (I love that I already have everything I need in my kitchen too!)

  2. I adore the girls’ outfits and monogrammed aprons. They look too cute!
I also love to bake with little ones: it is so nice to see their amazed faces light up once they see the finished product come out of the oven.

    Many blessings,

    1. Anna Marie suggested using the bottom of a glass, or something similar, for the stamp. If it wants to stick, dip the bottom of the glass in sugar between stamping.

  3. They look delicious ?
Love Anna Marie’s dreeses too, she must be very good at sewing ?
Sending our love to you all

  4. I loved this post! Thank you so much, as a mama with little ones at home who like to help me bake it is so nice to see this! I have never heard of a cookie stamp but now I have to find them. What a great way to get little ones involved. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipe, cant wait to try it!

  5. I am looking forward to trying these with my girls. Anna Marie is such a sweet example (to me as a mom) of a nurturing, patient, and loving mom. Thanks for sharing the recipe and the adorable pictures!

  6. Would I need to use selfrising or all-purpose flour? I’m assuming all purpose since there is salt in the recipe, but I want to be sure!

  7. Thank you to Anna Marie for sharing this recipe – – I’m eager to try it! 🙂
Her little girls are so precious!

    1. It was really great. Someone on the blog asked for the Maxwell ladies favorite Christmas recipes. Anna Marie not only got hers to us but said she would make it with her girls. She offered to take the photos, but Sarah was available, which was better since then Anna Marie could be in the photo.

  8. Mmmm… looks yummy 🙂 i love the little girls dresses and aprons. i recognize the dress as my sister has one just like it, but did anna marie make the aprons?

  9. We made these over the weekend. OH MY! Possibly our new fav cookie recipe! Thanks much Anna Marie!

  10. I keep revisiting this post to read the recipe and see the cookie, I am ordering cookie stamps right now and baking these when they arrive! Thanks for sharing!

      1. I baked the cookies today. They are delicious, and perfect with a mug of tea! I used the silver and gold “twinkle sprinkle” sugar from Williams-Sonoma for the sugar to roll them in, and I like the sparkle that it added. Thanks for this great recipe!

  11. Made these with my boys, they are super easy to make and my boys enjoyed “helping” mama! I don’t have any cookie stamps so we just used a glass. We’ll be adding a little frosting and Christmas sprinkles!

    1. So glad the cookies were easy and came out well. Sounds like the suggestion for using a glass worked well. Frosting and sprinkles will make them look very festive.

  12. I love seeing Anna Marie and her sweet little girls! Those cookies look delicious and cookie baking is so much fun. Can’t wait for these times with Jubilee! I really like the baking mat with the circles showing you how to space the cookies, I hadn’t seen that before.
