Sunday in the Mountains

Good morning from Colorado!

We’re enjoying a quiet day today, after several days of great hikes. I am looking forward to catching you up on what we’ve done!

Sunday we hiked up several miles to a ridge we’ve gone to before.  When we arrived at the ridge, we found a beautiful spot and settled to have church. It’s not often that we have so much time to just enjoy the views and sunshine. Singing hymns takes on a new meaning when you’re on the mountain, looking over the forest glades and down lofty mountain grandeur. We each shared what we’ve been reading in our Bible time and what the Lord’s been teaching us through it.

Truly, we’re grateful for this special time away to be in the mountains!

Love,
Sarah

We only saw a total of three hikers, and one of them took our family picture.

Mary, Jesse, Anna, and me

Sweet sisters!

“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord,
call upon his name, declare his doings among the people,
make mention that his name is exalted.”
Isaiah 12:3-4

  2. What a neat family experience! I hope to some day get out to Colorado and it would be lovely to praise the Lord and read His Word surrounded by all that beauty. ?

  3. Oh my! I’m thinking that singing on the mountain was beautiful. Reminds me of The Sound of Music! Hey that’s a great idea! Has the family ever taken instruments and played on a summit?
    Ya’ll haves a lovely time!

  4. Sounds like you had a great hike! That’s really awesome that you had church at the top of the mountain! Did you sing How Great Thou Art? It is one of my very favorite hymns, and I thought it would be a good one to sing!:)

    1. Yes, it was a great hike, and one of the hymns we sang was How Great Thou Art. When we got to the part that says “When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur and there behold my God how great Thou art, I was overcome with tears of praise. I have often sung those words but never from the point of actually looking down from lofty mountain grandeur.

  5. This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing about your special Sunday together…on lofty mountain grandeur! Praises to our great God for His amazing goodness and beauty all around us, in His love and in His creation!

    1. Just the ones who still live in our home. It is hard for all the families to get away together. Plus we outgrew the cabin we could stay in together. Maybe some year we can go back with everyone.
