Happy Birthday, Mom!

Happy Birthday from Kansas! 🙂 We will be on our way to Colorado tomorrow.

Mom is an incredible woman. She invested 30 years of her life homeschooling us 8 children. That’s an entire teaching career–for free! Mom knew the importance of investing in eternal things, and what could be more precious than her own children’s hearts?

Awesome facts:

  • Mom has a sweet servant’s heart. When there’s a need, she’ll jump right in and do it.
  • Mom and Dad are best friends. If Dad is doing a fix-it project, she’s ready to help. If he needs to run an errand, she’ll often join him.
  • Mom is loyal. Her first priority is her Lord and Savior, and the second priority is her family. If she’s made a commitment to something, she will keep it.
  • Mom is our master planner, remembering even the smallest details.
  • She is the best Grandma book-reader, and she has several bags of special Grandma books!

Please take a moment and make Mom’s day extra special by leaving her comment. As a bonus, we’d love to hear a sentence or two on how she’s impacted your life!

Happy, happy birthday, Mom!

AND!!! Happy Anniversary to Dad and Mom! 44 Years!!!! We love you both!!!!

Love,
Sarah

“Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord;
that walketh in his ways.”

    1. Thank you, Tish. With my mom joining us for a birthday breakfast, we recalled what it was like for her 63 years ago and all that God has done in our lives since then. Thank you for encouraging my heart. The Lord has done it all, and He gets the glory. I get to praise Him for what He has brought me through, and how He has let me share that with my sisters!

  4. Happy Birthday dear friend from Europe!

You are a special far- a- way friend and you know the impact you have in my life.
You brought peace where there was chaos.
You showed me how to put my priorities in a godly order.
First God, second husband, third family and then everything else.
You saved me from many wrong decision I would have made.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children.

Be blessed and have a wonderful time,
    Susi

    1. Thank you, Susi. Your words bring tears to my eyes as I thank the Lord for how He answers our prayers before we even know what to pray. What a delight to my heart to know of all that the Lord is doing in your life. I praise Him.

  5. Happy Birthday! Have a blessed day. You have been a blessing to me in your example as a follower of Christ. You are such an encouragement! Enjoy your trip!

  6. Happy Birthday, Mrs. Maxwell! Wow, where should I begin? Your whole family has been such a blessing to us over the years! Your chore packs and scheduling tips have helped us so much and you raised an amazing daughter who has provided our family with hours of quality reading time! Thank you so much for your godly testimony!

    1. Thank you, Ryana. Schedules and Chorepack – what a help to daily life and godly reading material. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for all that You have done and given us and allowed us to share with our brothers and sisters.

  7. Happy birthday Mrs. Maxwell! It was great meeting you last year! May God continue to bless and use you for His glory!

  8. Happy Birthday, Teri! Over the years you have blessed me with your sweet spirit and obedience to the Lord in teaching others to live a more abundant life through Jesus. Thank you for your willingness to bless others with what the Lord has shown you. As a result many families have been blessed!

  9. Wishing you a wonderful and blessed birthday! I enjoy reading and seeing the fruits of your labor that has been invested in your children and grandchildren. I know from rearing 14 children it is not an easy task! To God be the glory for the grace to do His will each day raising mighty warriors and maidens for His kingdom! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

    1. Hi Alice. Remind me of our blog connection when we meet, okay! I love the Proverbs 31 woman. Sh is sure my model and goal, and if I resemble her in anyway, it is God’s work, and He gets the glory. Thank you for encouraging me.

  10. Happy Birthday Terri! When I read about the upcoming Colorado trip I knew is was time for a few celebrations, your birthday being one of then.
You have blessed me in so many ways, beginning with your writing! MOTH and Homeschooling With A Meek and Quiet Spirit, to begin with, which I continue to reread often!!
Also, it amazes me how, even while you were still homeschooling and traveling with the family ministry, you took the time to personally answer questions that I might have. Not only that but Terri, you remember struggles of mine and are quick to ask how I’m doing in these areas. I know that you have a full schedule and I have ALWAYS felt like I have a much needed Titus 2 woman in my life because of you!
I certainly can’t thank you enough for the kind words and advice over the years.
Hoping you will have a wonderful celebration with your family and I know Colorado is going to be awesome!!
    Happy Birthday my friend,
    Johnna

    1. Thank you, Johnna. God is so good. Your comment so encourages me. Years ago Steve and I didn’t think we could keep up with the Titus2 e-mail and thought we would resort to a “canned” response. However, as we prayed, we felt the Lord wanted us to respond personally not with a form kind of e-mail. What you shared tells me you were one of the reasons God told us to keep the personal interactions in Titus2 e-mail. I am so happy it has been a blessing to you.

  11. Happy Birthday Mrs. Maxwell! We hope you have a blessed year! Would you be willing to share what books you have in your Grandma bag. I am always looking for good wholesome books to read to my children or to have them be able to read.

    1. Thank you, Rebekah. I will pass the suggestion about a blog post on the books in my reading bags on to Sarah. I have so many books divided between three bags for different age groups, and I still can’t fit them all in. Maybe it would go for several other blog posts!!

  12. Happy Birthday, Mrs. Maxwell!! Thank you for being a role model to me of a godly wife, mother, and homemaker. You have blessed my life in so many ways, even being my “mentor” from afar through your books and audio recordings. We treasure your family’s friendship. Praying many blessings on you today!

    1. Thank you, Dessiree. I praise the Lord for what He is doing in your family and in your life. What a joy! And I am delighted that the Lord would let me help you along that path He has called you down.

  13. Happy Birthday! Although we have never met, you and your family have impacted ours greatly. We love your commitment to the Word of God and the Authorized KJV! Your teachings are convicting, but gentle and kind. Thank you for leading a life that is sold out for Jesus. You are truly “shining as lights in the world; holding forth the word of life.” May God continue to bless you, Sister Teri and may this year be full of his presence!

  14. The Lord bless thee, Teri, on this special day, and throughout the year! Thank you for the encouraging, challenging, and informative Mom’s Corners. Thank you for sharing the wisdom God has given you to many women all over the world. I appreciate you and all of the time you have given to help me and many others!

    To Him be glory!

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the highcalling of God in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:14

  15. Dear Teri,
Happy Birthday! I sincerely hope you have a blessed day. Your life as a homeschool mom has been truly inspiring to me. My family is in the thick of homeschooling. We have 3 graduates and 7 more at every level down to kindergarten. (No more babies or toddlers, sadly.) Because of reading your Mom’s Corners books and Managers of Their Schools, I have resolved to have a schedule and give serious consideration to how we homeschool. I am so thankful to have someone completely on the other side to look to for advice. Thank you for all you have done and all you do! To God be the glory!

    1. Thank you, Heidi. My family makes my birthday a very special day, and the Lord blesses me beyond measure. So glad that you are faithfully fulfilling God’s call on your life to homeschool. I am grateful the Lord would let me be part of the practical side of helping you through those trenches. All the praise to Him!

  16. Happy birthday Teri! You were such an encouragement to me when my son passed away. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to me.
May you have a wonderful refreshing time with your family in Colorado!

    Blessings
    Brenda

    1. Thank you, Brenda. Refreshing is just what we are looking forward to in Colorado. Steve and I think our long walks this summer will help us on the hikes, but at that elevation everything is hard for flatlanders! Such a difficult, difficult time when your son passed away. I know you still hurt, but the wounds aren’t as fresh now as they were then, and I know God has carried you through.

  17. Happy Birthday Teri! You have been such an important role model for me and mentor through your books, blog and a conference I attended of yours in 2011. Thank you for following the Lord and doing His work which has impacted so many!!

    1. Thank you, Stephanie. Wow, 2011. That was 8 years ago. What a privilege the Lord has given me and what a work He has done to take the pain and failures that were where I started, teach and grow me, and then allow me to encourage my sisters in Christ. I am certainly not perfect, and I have so much growing still to do, but I am very grateful for and to my Lord Jesus!

  18. Happy Birthday!! I pray it is the best ever!! ? You have been a huge inspiration in my life since I found your blog back in 2013 (Ithink that’s the right year).. I had the privilege of meeting your family when you did a presentation in Huntsville, Alabama. I have read some of your material and all the blog posts ? your family is a blessing and have been a big encouragement to me and my children! Thank you for sharing your life and helping people you have no idea your even helping!! God Bless!!
Birthday blessings from North Alabama ? ?

    1. Thank you, Rebecca. It is a delightful birthday – lots of love and special things from my family and preparations for our trip tomorrow. So glad the Lord has been working in your hearts and lives and that He would let us be a part of that.

  19. Teri-You have been a kind and supportive e-mail friend. You are always interested in what others do and the things they care about in your others oriented attitude. I know you will have a wonderful time with your family in Colorado which I know is where your heart is at. You are truly an inspiration with your longevity as a teacher, how physically fit you are and most of all how clear it is how God and family are your priorities!!

    1. Thank you, Marilyn, for your sweet encouragement. I have enjoyed our email friendship and the way our lives have connected. I do love our summer trips to Colorado and thank the Lord each year we are able to go and able to hike. As Steve and I get older, we know that may not always be possible. Praise the Lord for His goodness to us!

  20. Happy Birthday Teri!

You have been such an encouragement, inspiration and blessing to me and my family for our nineteen years of homeschooling! Your books, your personal e-mails in response to my questions, your mothering, and your willingness to share even the difficult things, have all helped me grow in my faith and maturity as a woman of God.

Your Mom’s Corners are such a wealth of information and I have saved several to Evernote…to be reread when I have grandchildren!! In particular, the Corner you wrote detailing your struggle with and victory over your Pepsi ‘addiction’ really helped me deal with areas of my life that were idols, and continues to convict and bless me even today!!

I am a more gentle, quiet, godly wife and mother through the Lord’s leading and your excellent example. Thank you for sharing your life with us! You are a gift!!

    Trish

    1. Thank you, Trish. Wow, 19 years. That was the very beginning of our ministry. You can’t be far from grandchildren. Oh yes, the Pepsi addiction. I still praise God so often when we drive by a Quik Trip that I no longer desire to stop for a Pepsi! As I read these comments on my birthday, I keep having tears in my eyes at God’s goodness to me and to His children. His work in my life and letting me share that with my sisters and His work in their lives. So beautiful. So good. A God we praise.

  21. Dear Teri,

Thanks for pouring out yourself and sharing your family with people all over the world, including our little clan in New Zealand. When I was in a very difficult position and had only just enough strength to pull my children out of a state school, I was in a very needy position, and as I reached out to you for some support you gave much more than I could have dreamed. Our family has been learning so much over the past year or so since you began to support us and we are sure that the Lord is pleased with our new reliance on Him for the path that is good.

You have taught me to go to the Lord in prayer and to trust in Him and love Him. You have taught me to love my husband. You have taught me to have hope for my children and to persevere in that great hope. You have upheld me when very few here were able to understand my plight. And reading the testimonies of the ladies here I can see again that your responses prove on Whom you are relying and Whom you are loving and serving through all these works.

May your children and your husband “rise up and call you blessed” as we know they do, and may your heart be strong and courageous more than ever in the Lord in the years to come.

    Love,
In Christ Jesus our glorious Lord
    Sarah

    1. Thank you, Sarah. More tears for God’s goodness and His answers to prayers long before we even know we will have needs and pray them. I am so blessed to know all that He is doing in you life. Praise Him for His goodness and mercy!

  22. Happy birthday Terry! You have impacted my life in so many ways: scheduling
Private and family bible time daily
    Exercise ?
Letting God plan your family size
    Debt freedom
Bless you Terry, I love you!
    Colleen

  23. Happy Birthday!! 🙂
You are a special friend and sister in Christ, and you’ve blessed me more than you realize. You and your family set a wonderful example of living a Christian life, and not being conformed to the world’s standards. Thank you! Sending birthday hugs from Georgia, Patti 🙂

  24. Happy Birthday, Mrs. Maxwell! I haven’t been reading as long as a lot of commenters, but your teachings have impacted me quite a bit! I have striven to become my husband’s best friend and best champion as I have seen the example you have. set in this area. It’s easy to let that slide in my season of life caring for littles but it’s so important to set aside time just for him. I also always enjoy your adventures in the kitchen as I love to cook! May God’s will be done in your life now and always as you continue to serve Him!

  25. Terri,

I have read your blog for a few years and many of your books including Managers of Their Homes, Chores, and Schools, but have never left a comment before. Thank you so much for being willing to teach homeschool moms ideas that are truly helpful even if they are not popular in the homeschool world. I am referencing things like scheduling and using textbooks. I have eight children (number nine arriving soon!) ages 11 and down, and your systems and ideas have been so helpful to bring order to the chaos and to set me on the path to right thinking. I often read and re-read your books while soaking in the tub at the end of the day. I have found so much help and encouragement from them. My girls also love the Moody series books that your daughter is writing and I see a positive influence in their behavior as a result. I hope you have a wonderful birthday, and thank you again for all the mentoring I have received from you!

    1. Hi Kristen, I am using Steve’s computer so the comment probably shows up as him. I am delighted that so much of what the Lord has given me to share has had an impact in your home and your homeschooling. Praise the Lord. Thank you for taking time to comment and share that with me. Teri

  26. Sorry I’m a day late, but the happiest of birthday wishes to you, Mrs. Maxwell!! I hope you had a beautiful birthday, with many reminders of how much you are loved! ? Thank you so much for your example and heart for the Lord! May the Father richly bless you as you serve Him so beautifully and shine His light to others.
    With love in Christ,
    ~Martha Joy

    1. Thank you, Martha Joy. I had a delightful birthday, and couldn’t doubt my family’s love or the love of my Titus2 sisters. I am very, very blessed. I am using Steve’s computer so the comment probably shows up as him.

  27. Happy Birthday, Teri.
Words cannot express the gratitude I have for you for helping me carry my deepest burden by lifting up requests for me to the Savior and in the process showing me that I can truly cast my cares on Him. God’s will is always perfect and the life of a godly man (or woman) is adventurous.

  28. Happy Birthday, Teri!!

I couldn’t begin to tell you all the ways you have been a wonderful help to me. Thank you for faithfully praying for me, for personally answering my many e-mails, for being so generous with your time on the MOTHboard, for giving excellent advice, for being a true Titus 2 mentor, for being willing to say the hard things when needed, and for being a trusted friend. My life is so different now because of your support, guidance, and encouragement. I truly can’t thank you enough.

    God bless you!
    ~ daybreaking

    1. Thank you, Daybreaking. I love your heart for learning and growing and following the Lord. What joy for the Lord to let me have a part of that and then to see it. This is Teri using Steve’s computer.

  29. Happy birthday Mrs. Maxwell! Thank you for what you’ve done to help and teach the younger women. My mom has learned so much about scheduling and from you, and I’m very grateful for that.
And happy anniversary too! 44 years! That’s awesome! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Alana. I had a wonderful birthday and thank you for anniversary greetings too! I hope what your mom has learned you are learning too! This is Mrs. Maxwell using Mr. Maxwell’s computer.

  30. I am 28 right now and i enjoy reading the blog you all post. So happy birthday Terri, what you have done for me is shown me that change can happen for those of us who didn’t live a life that was cookie cutter. I don’t have children or a husband(waiting for God’s best not my good enough) I have actually never had a boyfriend. Which is another thank you because of the blog i have been encouraged to keep waiting with purpose instead of doom and gloom. My third thing is that you have helped me to know that when i get to that season of life the importance of me developing my kids and doing proverbs 22.6. -Katie H(OKC)

  31. Happy Birthday dear Mrs Maxwell!!
    Trustworthy
    Enthusiastic
    Responsible
    Investor in people’s lives

I appreciate your steadfast love for Jesus, and how you are willing to invest in those around me. Thanks for being an encouragement to me!

    Elizabeth M.

  32. Dear Teri,I just want to thank you and bless you for the impact you and your family has had in my life. I first found out about you when I went to the homeschool convention looking for something to help with scheduling, wondering if a $25 book would be worth the price? ? Well, it was! I view you as a spiritual mentor through your books, especially Homeschooling With a Meek and Quiet Spirit, Sweet Journey, and Sweet Relationships. I also really appreciated the CD on loving your husband. God bless you abundantly as you continue to pour out your life for Him.
    Love, in Christ
    Esther

    1. So encouraging, Esther. Thank you. God has and does bless me abundantly, and I am doubly blessed to be able to share with others what He has been teaching me in practical and spiritual areas.

  33. Hi Teri! Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday as I only catch up on reading your blog about once a month. You and your family have made a tremendous impact on my daughter and me who were introduced to you at homeschool conferences. Your calm, godly spirit ministered such peace to me! Seeing your family work together as a team was so inspiring! I learned so much from the scheduling workshop and book; time just seemed to multiply as I saw how to manage each hour! Every time I refer back to one of the many books we invested in, I get a surge of hope and joy and practical tips to implement. Even though we haven’t seen you all in person, you continue to be a blessing in our lives! May God bless your year! Also, Happy Anniversary to you and Steve! We’re so grateful you were both saved and chose to minister to others! In His Love, Lisa

    1. Thank you, Lisa. I am delighted that our materials you invested in are ones you will pull back out and reread and utilize. We praise the Lord for what He has taught us and give Him all the glory and are grateful He let’s is share with others.
