44 years ago, Steve and I were engaged in Rolla, Missouri, toward the end of our freshman year of college. We were then married that summer (at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, where my family lived) just before starting our sophomore year.
We had many special moments, firsts, and onlys in our lives in Rolla.
- First four years of married life.
- First two houses.
- Salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
- First baby born.
- Steve’s first business.
- Graduation from college for both of us.

Steve and I had the opportunity to be in Rolla recently. We took a long walk, literally, down memory lane. We spent two hours walking along the route we used to walk or bike from our house to campus, between the two houses we lived in, through town, past the hospital where Nathan was born, and out toward the little airport and back.
We talked much about our lives and especially how amazing it is that God took two worldly, college students and brought them to salvation in the midst of a secular, college campus (we haven’t encouraged our children down that path!). He completely changed our hearts and our lives. He is so good and we have so much to thank Him for!
Trusting in Jesus,
Teri
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).
Aaaawwwh…this is so special!
We’re “only” married for 11 years now but when we come to the town where we first met and later chose a ring… I’m always excited!
It is so amazing how God brought us together and how He changed us so that our relationship with Him and with each other is much better now than in the first “falling in love” time. It’s all His grace: Thank you Lord!
Sweet memories for you too!
How lovey to go down “memory lane”, yes it is amazing how the Lord can change us and use us, especially when we obey his calling!
Sending much love to you all.
Ps, Very hot over here, but you would all be use to this i guess!
Are the girls home yet?

Love your story and photo journey! Thanks for sharing!
I loved summarizing that special time in our lives.
What a sweet time of recounting God’s faithfulness. Thank you for sharing this.
It really was a sweet, wonderful, delightful time. It felt like a gift from God.
You can still totally see the young people falling in love and establishing a life together, in the pictures. Thanks for sharing!
Aww! That’s sweet. Thank you for putting that picture in my mind!
Such a cool post, Teri.
Love is so strong, the strongest bond, and from our Lord Himself. I must say you are such e beloved couple.
Blessings in the Lord
Sarah
Absolutely! I love the way you put that, Sarah. Blessed my heart. Thank you.
So fun!!! We did that a couple years ago for our 20th Anniversary. Love remembering together and recounting God’s faithfulness.
And it was fun to hear you talk of Rolla. My husband grew up in St clair, just East of there, so we are very familiar with the area! 🙂
We drove from Rolla to St. Louis so went through St. Clair. Your 20th trip sounds special too!
This is so precious! The part about God saving you brought tears to my eyes. I, too, was saved during my studies at a secular college. Praise the Lord for His goodness to us!
Yes, praise the Lord!
Awwwwww… so sweet! And they met in chemistry class! That’s neat! I’d love a post about they’re story – how they met, got engaged, etc. I always like to ask people that.
Thank you for the reminder of Gods amazing grace reaching out to save the lost in unusual places!! Glory be to God!
