Happy Father’s Day with a Peek Into the Past

Happy Father’s Day to our amazing dad! Since I shared a special twist on this year’s Mother’s Day post, I wanted to do the same for Dad’s! What awesome memories flooded me as I scanned in old pictures to share.

Dads are a key foundation in a child’s life. Growing up, I knew my dad was always there for me. He listened, he encouraged, he spent time with my siblings and me, and he did many things to lighten Mom’s load. How many guys do you know that will grocery shop for their wife AND take all the kiddos? That was my dad!

Dad faithfully led our family in following Jesus, and also gave us an amazing example, not only by spending time in God’s Word personally each day but as a family.

We love you, Dad! We can never thank you enough for your love and investment in our lives and the lives of the next generation! Happy Father’s Day!

Reading to Christopher and me!

Spending time with Nathan and Christopher.

When I was about 3, he took me out for a daddy-daughter date. He would have been about 34 in the picture above!

He has a soft spot for dogs! ๐Ÿ™‚

Dad gave lots of backpack rides to his littles.

Even though work projects would have been easier without small children helping, he knew it was part of the process to equip them. Now, each of my five brothers are great with projects!

Giving a blessing to Joseph on his spiritual birthday.

Before blog days, he and Mom spoke to a homeschool group overseas, and they were also able to spend a little time in Switzerland, celebrating their 25th anniversary! How grateful we are for parents who LOVE each other!

Did you know Dad takes great pictures? It’s true!

Dad has a tremendous love for God’s Word.

Here he is again with a son, doing a project together. This is where our house currently is–so we were just in the beginning stage!

Dad loves to share with Christian parents! His books continue to go out to families across the nation, along with his weekly Seriously Dad e-mail.

The sweet bus days!

Dad loves his grandchildren!

He’s truly a man with a vision!

Happy Father’s Day also to my brothers, Nathan, Christopher, and Joseph! Love you guys!

thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.”

  4. “Diligence is the precious possession of a man”. And “What is desired in a man is his kindness” – may joy and peace ever be your gift from God, Steve, and may you all be a family who stays true to the Lord. What a lovely wife and children you have cared for and may your blessings be even richer in your later years!

God bless you – this testimony of faith is excellent

Isn’t our God marvellous Who blesses us all far beyond our imagination. What a mighty God we serve.
    Blessings,

    1. Good question. A spiritual birthday is the anniversary of when the person accepted Christ! We celebrated with giving the person a special verse we had picked out–but we can’t remember if we did anything more than that? It’s been a long time! Christopher and Anna Marie now have the person over for dinner to celebrate their spiritual birthday!

  5. What a blessing to see a daddy loving on his children…more importantly, leading his children in the Lord’s way. What a beautiful picture of Malachi 4:6, “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers…” You are a wonderful picture that this verse is absolutely true!
    Happy Father’s Day, Mr. Maxwell!

  7. Happy Father’s Day, Mr. Maxwell! Loved all the old pictures, esp the ones of Mr. Steve and Sarah when she was little and Anna’s baptism. A good dad is a blessing.
