Is there anything sweeter than a little girl and a kitten?
Is there anything better than a-once-in-a life-time birthday present?
Is there anything more exciting than the-once-in-a life-time birthday present being a surprise?
It was all there double for Christina’s birthday!
A few days before I received this text from Nathan, he asked if he could use my cat carrier:
Are you going to be home today around one? If so, I would send Christina up to your front door to pick up the carrier, but she wouldn’t know she’s picking up the carrier just that she needs something for our birthday outing today, and you give it to her, and she comes back to the van.
That was the start to a day I don’t think Christina will ever forget. Four kittens came home in the van along with kitten supplies. One of their stops was Petsmart, where they loaded up with all kinds of supplies!
Two kittens were for Christina’s birthday, and two went out to Melanie’s parents’ farm. Nathan and Melanie have sought ways as city dwellers to help their children learn responsibility (chickens, kittens… 🙂 ).
Update: for those asking, the girls named them Tiger and Pickles. Pickles comes from a book I read to them called The Fire Cat (Titus2 Amazon affiliate link, see our Privacy Policy here.).

“Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.
Praise ye the LORD” (Psalm 150:6).
Ah, look at those happy little faces.
I grew up with pet cats, my mum was very much a cat person, and it’s obviously rubbed off on me, as my husband and I have our own cats and delight in watching our daughter take care of them, I agree it teaches children about responsibility and caring for animals, and funnily enough, feeding the cats is one of her chores she never moans about!?
Love this story–especially about the chore she doesn’t moan about! 🙂
The kittens are so cute.
Little Christina looks Absolutely thrilled! 🙂
What are their names going to be?
Give a bleated HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHRISTINA!!!
Love and God bless to you! 🙂
They are adorable. Tiger and Pickles. So cute!!!
Precious! 🙂 I have a little girl (8) who LOVES kittens, as well. We had one(also surprised her with it!), but…living in the country, this little adorable kitten decided to go where she shouldn’t have and…we found her in a not so nice way 🙁 One of those teachable moments in life. Love the adorable smiles of the girls! 🙂
Thanks for sharing. Sad face on what happened with your kitten. 🙁 Maybe another one is in your girl’s future! 🙂
How adorable! Happy birthday, Christina 🙂
Thanks! Christina’s a little firecracker!
The little girl is very sweet
Thanks! We think so!
Aww Happy Birthday, Christina! Kittens are so sweet. Love the photos of that big smile!
Thanks! 🙂 You will love meeting her!
Happy Birthday Christina! The kittens are so adorable! What are their names? Me and my sister abseloutely love cats and we just recently got 2 kittens!!
Congratulations on your kittens! Tiger and Pickles are the new kittens! 🙂
Happy birthday Christina! The kittens are so cute!
Thank you!
What a sweet surprise, and how wonderful for Christina and the other children to learn about taking good care of (and being gentle with!) kittens. 🙂 The kittens are SO precious, and I love their names too. Belated birthday greetings to Christina!
Love, Mrs. Patti (Who is called CatMom by my sons-in-law) 😉
Yes, they’re all loving their kittens! 🙂 You and Mom would really enjoy meeting in person! 🙂
Thanks! Pickles and Tigger are really cute names! We have a cat named Tigger too! 🙂 And our Tigger is the exact same cat as Arnold! I am so sorry about my two same comments! I had done one and I thought it hadn’t posted and I had done something wrong so I did another one! So sorry 🙂
Maybe it’s a common cat name?!! How neat! I didn’t catch the two same comments, 🙂 but I just deleted one for you. No problem at all!
The dog looks so curious about what’s going in that carrier! 🙂
She was! I think it’ll be great to introduce her to the kittens soon! 🙂
Yes I think it is!! 🙂 Great thanks so much!! God bless. 🙂
Pickles the Fire Cat brings back so many memories for me! I can picture him now in his fire hat. What a wonderful birthday for Christina!!
What cute cats! And great names! Are the girls fans of the Winnie-the-Pooh books? Many years ago, before I was born, my parents had a Tigger too. 😉
I got the name wrong! Tina told me today it’s Tiger! 🙂 It’s the orange and white one–since he looks like a tiger I guess. She said he’s very nice, though.
How cute! Kittens are so fun. We just got two new kittens that are so adorable! And then I have another cat whose name is Tigger and he looks just like Arnold.? (btw, I just love all the Arnold and Ellie pictures!).
Enjoy following your blog!
Sarah

Cutest girls and kittens!!Love the sweet pictures of both! Love Arnold and Ellie pictures too.
So glad you enjoyed it.
I love kittens! How cute! Is Christina a Winnie the Pooh fan?
She told us today that the kitten’s name is Tiger! Not Tigger! 🙂 I guess he looks like a Tiger, but she assured he’s nice!
These photos are adorable!! Christina looks so happy. 🙂 🙂
She still walks with an extra bounce to her step. Super cute!
Awwwwwwwww… so sweet. Wish I could have a cat. Daddy doesn’t want one though. 🙁 🙂
