Random Life at the Maxwells

Happy Monday! I hope you’re having a great start to your week. I’m grateful for the Lord’s mercies and His abundant love. Psalm 107:15: “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”

Enjoy a peek into our lives.

An Aunties’ playtime going on here, and even Ellie had to get in on the action.

Joshua memorized the entire book of Jonah. Yes, you read that right! Christopher and Anna Marie hosted some of us that evening, and Joshua planned an entire program, complete with music and ice cream. Maybe we’ll do a separate blog post on how Joshua accomplished memorizing that quantity of verses.

Anna and Ruthie playing on Jonah night.

Nathan and Melanie (along with Benjamin) celebrated their anniversary by going away, and Anna and Mary watched the other children.

The aunts make amazing babysitters!

Gunny sack races.

Reading with Grandpa!

Pancakes and yogurt.

We’ve enjoyed fellowship withΒ friends too!

We ended up postponing our caroling party from December, so we just had it recently, and it changed into a sweet family night and a hymn sing, along with lots of great food.

Anna Marie is getting very close to Baby arriving. πŸ™‚Β

Coffee with Nathan one morning after dropping off one of his vehicles for maintenance.

Another Aunties’ playtime.

Benji’s shirt is true!

GiGi reading to the greats!

Mom out with the little kids watching a demolition project.

Anna and Mary have tackled a lot of organizing projects lately.

Gotta love this Ellie + Arnold thing.

Christopher and Anna Marie took a night away before the Baby comes, so Mary and Anna watched the children.

We received an unpredicted snow!

Nathan, Mom, and some of the kids went on a day trip to visit friends while Melanie and the baby enjoyed a homeschool mom day out!

Since y’allΒ love these Ellie + Arnold captures!

“Whoso is wise, and will observe these things,
even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.”
Psalm 107:43

  1. These are the posts I enjoy the most: precious, everyday life happenings!
An idea for a future post (maybe!): how you organize and maximize space in your bedrooms. You girls are masters in the art of organizing, and I would love some tips/ideas on how you keep your rooms neat & tidy!

    1. That is a really great idea! I would definitely love some pointers from you wonderful Maxwell ladies! πŸ™‚

  2. Yes, I would LOVE a separate post on how Joshua memorized such a large portion of scripture. What a wonderful accomplishment. I’m sure you were all so proud.

P.s. I am loving your random life posts. It’s so fun getting a glimpse of daily activities. Thank you for sharing.

    1. I believe I’ll do one on that. Enough people have enjoyed the random life posts, I’m working hard to incorporate those in and find the pictures for those! πŸ™‚

    2. I second this, we want to know how Joshua accomplished such a feat! Wonderful! πŸ™‚ Loving your daily life posts, as well!! You all are such an amazing and loving family, you shine as stars in this wicked and perverse world! You give me hope to keep going and to not ever give up, that one day, it will all be worth it! Much Love to you all!

  3. That’s amazing that Joshua memorized Jonah! πŸ˜€ Congratulations to Anna Marie. When is her baby due? Is Elissa going to have a baby too? You have such a beautiful family!

      1. I’m sure you are! When my mom had my little sister, we were so excited too! πŸ˜€ Babies are a blessing from God.

  4. Wow! I would LOVE to know how you conquer a feat like that to memorize the entire book of Jonah at Joshua’s age! That is WONDERFUL! May it be blessed to his young heart.

  5. I would love to know how old he is, and how they got him to memorize the entire book of Jonah. That is simply amazing! Praise God.

  6. These are my favorites of all your pictures — the random life posts! I can see I’m not alone. Thank you for sharing your corner of the world with us — Ellie and Arnold, too! Blessings to all of you.

Way to go, Joshua — that’s amazing!

  7. I loved this post, the pics with your Dad and GiGi reading to the children are such precious moments.
One of my favorite things is seeing the elders in a family surrounded by children! Love the legacy building. These truly are my favorite posts, what seems mundane is actually so beautiful. God works in our β€œlittle” moments. Blessings to you all! (Also all you Maxwell ladies are so beautiful!)

  8. All the best for the ladies having babies. Im having #10 in early march. It certainly has flown by! What a blessing. πŸ™‚

  9. Hi Sarah!

    1. Annie,

What a beautiful name. Love it. I am so happy you left a comment. Thank you for that! I’m thrilled you enjoy the posts. πŸ™‚

      Have an awesome day,

  10. I’m impressed that Joshua memorized all of Jonah. Is he old enough for the Bible Bee? It sounds like he would do pretty well there.

  11. I just adore your Random Life posts! These pictures are such a delight! Congrats to Josh for such a wonderful accomplishment. I’m so glad the two couples got to have special time together, and what a wonderful way that Anna and Mary ministered to them by watching the children. Can’t wait for the new babies to arrive and see their sweet faces! Please keep the Ellie and Arnold pictures coming, they are just so cute!

  12. Thank you for sharing these fun photos, Sarah! πŸ™‚ Seeing your precious family on a “regular” day is such a treat—I especially enjoy the little ones (okay, I’ll admit I love seeing Arnold and Ellie too!) πŸ˜‰ and all the happy smiles give me a smile.
Have a blessed week and stay warm! We don’t have snow here in my Georgia neighborhood but it’s been cold and windy!
    Love, Mrs. Patti

  13. I told our family tonight about Joshua memorizing the book of Jonah. Seven years ago, our four boys who were 7 – 13 years of age, memorized the book of James. When hearing about Joshua’s accomplishment, they cheered for him…then all said at the same time, “I wonder if we can still quote James?” They immediately started in on it, and did a great job, only needing occasional word hints to bridge a memory lapse. They have memorized passages since James, but never another book of the Bible. Perhaps we should apply ourselves a little more to put larger segments of the Word in our minds while we can…it will stay with us for years and years, especially with use. I looked up Scripture Memory dot com (as on his shirt). It looks like a beneficial resource. Thank you for sharing the various ways your families work, play, pray and serve together in Christ, to the glory of the Father.

  14. I agree with everyone else, I just love these random life pictures and posts! Thank you so much for sharing! πŸ™‚

  15. I always enjoy reading about and seeing the pictures of such sweet family times together. It’s very uplifting to me! Congratulations to Joshua. That’s amazing at his young age, and Christopher & Anna Marie are to be commended for teaching him. I love the photo of Gigi reading to the children, and I love seeing photos of Ellie & Arnold. You do such a great job with everything, Sarah! Thank you for sharing your family.

  16. Thanks for the enjoyable post! I was wondering if you could tell me what brand of High Chair Nathan and Melanyhave. I’m looking for one with a smaller foot print and there’s looks like it fits the bill. Have a great day!

  17. I love the photo of the kids and Teri watching demolition. Kids are so funny — they could have all the toys in the world but real life action is where it’s at! Our neighbor kids lined up on both sides of our street like they were watching a parade when I had to have my SUV towed — SO exciting! LOL. Thanks for sharing!

  18. Thanks so much for sharing family life with us. What joy it is to belong to Jesus! We sure do love the Moodys! My six year old brother is having the series read aloud to him for the fourth or fifth time now. πŸ™‚ Many blessings on your day! Our King is worthy! And so worth it.

  19. Thank you for sharing encouraging ‘random life pictures’. I love reading your blog! Way to go, Joshua! I’d love to read more about how he learned it. Our oldest son (turned two in December) knows two Verses “God is Love” and “Be kind”. But he mixes them up a lot of times. We are raising our children bilingually though, maybe that’s why. Anyhow, you guys have a blessed rest of the week!
    Greetings from Germany πŸ™‚

  20. So much to love in this post! I’m definitely enjoying seeing a peek into your lives. Such a HUGE accomplishment for Joshua, wow! I can’t wait to read more about how he did that. That is such an encouragement for both little and big people to memorize the Word. Ellie and Arnold are the most adorable dog/cat combo I’ve ever seen. Way cute. So sweet seeing all the kiddos hanging out with their Aunts- how kind of Anna and Mary. I also love the picture of GiGi reading to the great grandchildren- what a blessing to have godly, like-minded extended family to invest in each other. Benji is growing up and is so adorable! We are praying for Anna Marie as her due date nears. Love your precious family- such a blessing to ours!

  21. LOVE these pictures!!! Thanks for posting them and brightening my day with the joy and unity of your family:-)

  22. What a great gift the Lord has blessed Joshua with. It is so neat to see that he is already using it to hide God’s Word in his heart. Excellent job Joshua! I also have to compliment Christopher and Anna Marie as his parents. Being a mom of little ones, I know they played a part too with helping and encouraging Joshua in memorizing the book of Jonah. They are doing such a great job raising their children for the Lord. Thanks for sharing tidbits of your families’ lives. Love these types of posts. Your family is an encouragement.

    1. Sarah,

Thank you for sharing! Joshua was an inspiration to me too! πŸ™‚ Yes, I love seeing my brothers and their families raising little ones for Jesus!

  23. Well done Joshua and his parents for teaching him Gods word.
Will be praying all goes well with the babies (so exciting)!
Love all the pictures too, its fun to see what you all get up to over there.
Please say thank you to all for the family for encouraging us all in our walk with the Lord.
    God bless,
    Sending our love

Love that Ellie and Arnold thing lol!! Do they chase each other often? haha πŸ™‚

Loved this post as always =) Thanks for all the work you do gathering and choosing and posting all these awesome pics for us! I appreciate all the work and time you put into blessing your readers πŸ™‚ <3
