The Wonder of Christmas

“… And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6

I closed my eyes, marveling as a 120+ voice choir sang those incredible words. My heart burst with joy, and I knew this was only a foretaste of what the Heavenly choir will be like. The joy grew even greater as I listened to the Hallelujah Chorus.

So where were we? Friday night, some of us enjoyed the opportunity to attend a Messiah concert in Kansas City. This was our third year, and what a treat it is! God’s Word is powerful, and I love how Handel used Scripture for his lyrics.

The holidays are busy times, but may we never forget to slow down and enjoy the wonder of what God did for us.

Love,
Sarah

Dinner out first

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.”
John 3:17

  1. How special! That flatbread pizza looks amazing. Lovely photos! I’m sure you had a wonderful time, the music is incredible! The Hallelujah chorus is my favorite.

  2. My son played in the orchestra for our county’s Messiah concert. I feel the same way. It was moving and a nice reminder of what this Christmas season is all about. May we ever praise His name. Merry Christmas!

  3. I love the Messiah! We go to a sing-along that takes place in a large cathedral here — the acoustics are incredible. “And the Glory of the Lord” is my favorite!

  4. We used to do the sing along at the local college the Sunday after Thanksgiving for years. I flew to WA state to sing in a large choir Messiah several years ago as a favor for a friend. It’s one of my favorite pieces to sing. The Easter part is so moving. My favorite part is the He Shall Purify You chorus.
    Glad you got to hear it with orchestra, it makes it so real.

  5. That looks super cool. I’ve heard of the Messiah but never got to listen to it. Is it an opera or am I thinking of something else? Who’s the composer? Bach? I would’ve loved to go!
