I want to share with you this super easy homemade syrup that I use in my mochas.

Chocolate Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup cocoa
- 1 cup water
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla (or a little more)
Turn burner on medium heat, and combine cocoa and sugar in saucepan. Immediately add water and whisk. Add salt. Stir occasionally until mixture boils. Keep stirring as it boils, and allow it to boil for at least 1 minute. This will help the sauce to thicken. Remove from heat, and add vanilla. This rich chocolate syrup is perfect for homemade mochas or any type of hot (or cold!) drink. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
How much should you add to your mocha? It depends if this is the only sugar and how sweet you like it. I, for one, like my drinks sweet!
Enjoy!
“My meditation of him shall be sweet:
I will be glad in the Lord.”
Psalm 104:34
Thanks for sharing, I was wondering how you made your homemade mochas.
Oh wow! Thank you! I can’t do dairy so this is perfect for me. Have you tried making it with stevia or xylitol to make it sugar free? I’m going to try it and see! Thanks!
I have made it with part stevia. It works well. You can do subs!
Thanks for sharing this recipe! 😉 Would you consider also sharing how you make your mocha? 😀
Sure. I would love to!
Sure! I can see about a separate blog post on that.
Oohh… looks wonderful!Thank you for sharing!
Yum! I’ve been looking for a simple syrup recipe. I can’t bear to buy the ones in the store with high fructose corn syrup in it! Thank you!!!
Wonderful! Hope you enjoy!
This is about as simple as you can get!
Thanks for sharing. Also, I really like that colorful whisk you have there. I’ve never seen one like that.
I believe I bought it from Amazon. The only negative is that some of the silicone has worn away.
Yuuum!!! I’ve never seen a recipe that’s sooo easy before. Trying this one! Thank you for sharing. :))
I must say I am more a “tea lady” but your recipe sounds nice. I am not sure to understand what is mocha. A kind of coffee with milk right ? In France, we are drinking very black expresso. My Italian husband loves his expresso very strong and unsweetened. The kind of coffee which keeps me awake all night long 🙂
Nothing wrong with liking tea more! 🙂 A mocha is exactly what you said, except you also add chocolate! A latte is without chocolate but with the frothed milk. I’m hoping to do a recipe on it soon!
This exactly how you make homemade hot chocolate except you use milk instead of water. I will have to try this. I also have a recipe for homemade caramel syrup if you want it, although it is easy to find one.
In Christ,
Lori
Sure! I’d love that recipe. I’ve tried multiple for salted caramel and have a hard time with that one.
Thanks for Sharing! I would love to know how to make a homemade mocha. ?
Sure, I’ll be doing a post on that!
Mmmmm. That looks good.
By the way, we shop at Sam’s too. I love your whisk. It’s cute.
🙂
Sounds delicious!
Can’t wait to try it!
xxxx
That looks so yummy we will have to try that soon
I’ve never seen something so
Yummy! Thank you for Sharing
I’ve made this twice now, and it’s so good. I’d say thank you, but I’m not so sure I’m thankful, LOL! 🙂
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it! Working to get a good pumpkin mocha ready, and then I’ll blog that recipe! 🙂
Yum! Excited to see that!
