Acts of Kindness

We have a number of elderly friends who attend church with us, and sometimes, due to needing extra care, they move over to the nearby rehab or assisted living facility. When my sisters visited one of these sweet ladies, she mentioned she was lonely and also missing good food. She said she wanted to give the cook a new cookbook: the cook has been using the same recipes for the past 7 years. Loved that comment. 🙂

My awesome sisters planned a very special lunch consisting of salad, homemade rolls (Mary’s are melt-in-your-mouth incredible), beef potpie, and oranges. Then, they took it up to her and ate with her.

The result = our friend was very blessed and loved it!

What can you do today to bless others?

Love,
Sarah

charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the
knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ.”

  1. Any chance you can post the recipe for Mary’s homemade rolls?

Good question. I will see if we can document it and get pictures for y’all the next time she makes them.

  2. That was so sweet of you girls! I know how lonely it canbe for residents, as I visit occasionally with one special Christian lady at a nearby home. Mary’s rolls sound delicious! Maybe she could share the recipe?

Sure, the recipe will be forthcoming.

  3. What is the recipe for Mary’s homemade rolls? Sounds like I need to make these!

I’ll do my best to get the recipe for y’all soon.

  4. Sarah, you are such an author and I think it would be amazing if all the Maxwells wrote a cookbook! I’d love all of those recipes.

The boys’ gravy and biscuits, your burritos, potpies. I think you also have some great bread and salad recipes. I hope you consider it!

  5. By the way, I meant if all the family contributed and not that they all wrote a book, haha.

I know that you are used to more creative writing, but Teri and Steve have written great guidance books that my sister has put to well use. I think a cookbook would be a great step for you and the family.

Thank you for the suggestion. We will consider it.

  6. Anna and Mary, how sweet of you to do this! Your family is such a blessing to others.
I second the cookbook idea! 😉 With Sarah’s photography skills and your amazing recipes, sounds like a winner to me!

  7. How kind and thoughtful… the food looked delicious and I know the lady was so appreciative!

  8. Is that your grandma? Nice picture. Your family is beautiful.

No, not our grandma. She is a lady who attended our church when she was in the apartment part of the retirement complex. Now she is in the assisted living part. She surprised us on Sunday by walking from the assisted living to the apartments with another lady who used to live in the apartments and is now in the assisted living as well. They were so excited to be sitting in the living room, where we have church, when we arrived!
