44 years ago and 55 million babies

Defenseless, helpless, voiceless: a horrible tragedy is happening every day abortion mills are open.

Would you join us in crying out for change in our nation? Change in the hearts of God’s people to make a difference, change in our country’s laws, change in our government officials’ hearts, and yes, change in the mother’s heart who takes her child to be aborted.

Friday night, we had the opportunity to join others in Leavenworth for a candlelight vigil to stand and pray for abortion to end. I was blessed by all the vehicles driving by who honked in support. At one point, a man walked down the line of people, and stopped at each person, giving them a pat and a “thank you.” Finally, a lady turned to him and asked, “Who are you?”

In a very humble and unassuming manner he said, “I’m just a citizen, ma’am.”

A sweet moment. A man who was driving by, saw everyone out, parked, and took the time to thank each person.

May our hearts be broken for those little ones who are mercilessly killed in our nation.

Love,
Sarah

“Open thy mouth for the dumb
in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously,
and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

They Are Precious In His Sight

Anna and Drew

Today, we girls cleaned Nathan and Melanie’s house, because time for Baby is getting closer! Drew got to ride on Aunt Anna’s back for awhile. It was so sweet to see the two of them cleaning.

them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14

Loving “Dough” or the Maker?

It takes money to live, and sadly for many, money becomes their reason to live. “The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands” (Psalms 135:15). Food and procreation can have a similar hold on people’s lives becoming their joy, passion and primary purpose in life.

What really is your purpose with money? Is it to make you happy, to have fun, to eat, or …. is it a means that your Lord directs its use of to make a difference in the world? Everything is His, and He graciously extends the use of it to us for His purposes. “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (Psalms 24:1).

A good way to self-evaluate the place your money has in your life is to analyze your budget. (Don’t have one? Make one and use it. Not having one is a pretty good indication of a likely problem.)

As you look at each category that money is spent on and how much, ask yourself tough questions. Is the Lord pleased and the One ultimately directing in this area? Is this selfish or wasteful? What place does giving have in your budget?

Unless money has its correct position in our lives we will struggle to be content in Christ and debt-free. Growing up years will have had a significant impact on your attitude about money. We can’t ignore the impact of our choices on shaping our children’s attitude toward money.  Are you committed to your children being debt-free?

Happy 15th Anniversary, Nathan and Melanie!

On a beautiful, unusually warm, January day, 15 years ago, you both said “I Do.” You have truly been together during the hard times and the good ones. You walked through the valley of the shadow of death with your adorable firstborn daughter, and you’ve faced dramatic births and NICU stays. Yet, through it all, your faith and love has grown even stronger.

Happy Anniversary! We love you!

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39

Bible Bee Follow Up

Several in our family greatly enjoyed their trip to watch the Bible Bee in November. I have a friend whose daughter has participated in the Bible Bee for several years now, and this year she even made it into the finals. My friend has shared with me the positive changes they have seen in their daughter since she began to memorize so much Scripture.

When the Bible Bee was over this year, I asked her if it was a relief not to have to spend so much time in reviewing the verses for the Bible Bee with her girls. She said it was, but also told me that the girls had picked out a book of the Bible to memorize while they wait for next year’s verses to come out in the summer. It wasn’t her idea, but her daughter’s, who is probably ten or eleven years old. What a joyful and powerful testimony of the Word of God!
