Faithful Mrs. F

Years ago when we first moved to Leavenworth, we met an older couple, the Fs, in the church we attended. Even though we no longer go to church there, we will from time to time see Mrs. F,  and enjoy a conversation with her. Now she is twenty-five years older than when we first met her.

Recently, I was in line at the grocery store and who should I observe at the checkout in front of me? Mrs. F! She was quite involved with producing her payment so I didn’t try to catch her attention right away. Before she started to leave, though, I called out to greet her. She returned my greeting.

As she was beginning to walk away, I observed her reach into her purse, pull something out, and turn back to the checker. “Excuse, me,” she said. “I have something for you to read when you have a chance.” She handed the checker a gospel tract, as he thanked her.

My heart was touched. Faithful Mrs. F! In her 80’s, she is still giving gospel tracts to those with whom she comes in contact. How easily I personally can justify not doing that. I might wonder if I have given that person a tract already. Maybe I decide it is just too much trouble. Perhaps I simply don’t remember tracts in the flurry of unloading the cart and checking out. I think Mrs. F could easily have used any of those excuses not to give away a tract that day, but she didn’t.

Mrs. F is a wonderful example to me of being a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus. I want to be faithful now and faithful when I am in my eighties or nineties, should the Lord tarry. What about you?

Trusting in Jesus,
Teri

“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant;
thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler
over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord”

  1. Thank you for sharing this! It really encouraged me to be more active in sharing the gospel.

  2. Beautiful. Thank you for the encouragement to share the gospel. This is a great way!!! Blessings.

  3. I need to work on getting better at this. I always have tracts but shopping is not my favorite thing to do and by the time I get to the check out counter I’m more interested in getting out than conversing with the cashier. Thank you for the encouragement.

    Blessings,
    Johnna
