So if initiative is every parents’ dream, how does one accomplish that? There is no doubt in my mind, the importance that chores and learning to work has played in our lives growing up. We have been richly blessed by that in the Maxwell home, and I’m so very grateful to my parents for that.
A portion of our back area near the woodpile was overgrown with weeds and wasn’t too pleasant to look at. One Saturday before vacation, Jesse decided to take care of it. No one asked him to or hinted at it. He dug in (literally), and the girls helped too. It was hard, hot work. Wow, the transformation was amazing! Not only does it look nice, but it blessed Dad beyond measure.
Blessing others is such a joy!
Before.
After. Ready for grass seed.
“And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us:
and establish thou the work of our hands upon us;
yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.”
Psalm 90:17
Amazing transformation! You are all certainly a blessing to your parents!
Wonderful team work! What a blessing to your parents!
Wow! It is inspiring to see you bless others. On the topic of children being a blessing to their parents, I need to share some news with you. I had asked for prayers months ago when I was expecting. Well, my husband and I now have a healthy baby girl, Julia! She is such a precious gift and we are so grateful for your and others’ prayers and for His creation and protection.

Yeah!! We are so excited for you. Thank you for sharing.
Good job, Jesse & girls! Looks much better now! And I’m sure it’ll look even better with the grass. 😉 I know from experience that it’s always such a nice feeling to have accomplished a big project that you know needed to get done. 🙂
