My wedding present to Joseph was late, about eight months late, but it was a special project. The present? A 149 page album of pictures from Joseph’s childhood to marriage.
I started this wedding-gift tradition with Nathan, carried it on with Christopher, and continued it with Joseph. Nathan’s album, done 13 years ago, was a simple photo album compiled in scrapbook style. Christopher’s was bigger and done with an online photo place. Joseph’s got the prize for the biggest, and I used Mixbook. One tip: watch for a sale. Mixbook has great quality products.
As I compiled Joseph’s pictures, I’m amazed at how much we’ve traveled over the past 10 years. Oh, the treasure chest of memories those pictures flooded me with. I gave the album to Joseph and Elissa last week, and they were delighted! It will be a treasure for their children.
Love,
Sarah
“We will not hide them from their children,
shewing to the generation to come
the praises of the LORD, and his strength,
and his wonderful works that he hath done.”
Psalm 78:4
That is an awesome idea! I’m sure they (and their children) will TREASURE it!!!! 😀

Yes, and we enjoyed it too. So many memories packed into a book!
I LOVE that idea. What a sweet gesture, I bet Joseph but especially Elissa loved it!

Yes, they did love it. Elissa hadn’t seen many of the pictures before.
Sarah – That is so thoughtful of you. My son just completed his 8th grade folklore scrapbook project so I can only imagine how much work you did to complete the book. I am sure that will be a family treasure for many years to come. – Cathie

It did involve a lot of hours, but it was worth it. It did spur me on to a better method of organizing photos. I have terabytes of photos 😉 on multiple hard drives.
This is actually a very encouraging idea for me. With eight children, I just haven’t had time to keep up scrapbooks like I had dreams of doing. Doing it one child at a time, for their wedding feels much more doable than trying to keep eight separate albums caught up simultaneously! I hope he Lord will help me remember this idea when that time comes around!
The look so happy together!
What a special gift!
Love the photobook idea! So thoughtful of you Sarah.
What a beautiful idea! We too have pictures everywhere and my days of scrapbooking are few and far between. I will have to look into Mixbook. Thank you for sharing. Love seeing the happiness on their sweet faces!
Lovely! What a special and practical gift!
That’s a fantastic gift. I’m passionate about sharing photos this way. I do both paper and digital scrapbooking. I’m going to look up Mixbook to see how it compares to what I use. That will be a gift that not only Joseph and Elissa will treasure, but their children and grandchildren will love it too.
Fun gift that will be enjoyed for years to come! 🙂
Were all your pictures digital? And if not how did you transfer them to digital format. I am looking to do a book like this for my son’s graduation but many of his pictures are not in a digital format. Thanks!

No. We have a scanner, so the earlier years were scanned in. It takes some work, but I only chose ones that looked interesting, and I thought I’d use.
