A Very Special Celebration for Our Parents

We celebrated both Mother’s and Father’s Day today, June 14th. Due to unusual circumstances, we ended up not being able to properly celebrate on Mother’s Day nor Father’s Day, tomorrow.

We (Sarah, Joseph, John, Anna, Jesse, and Mary) voted to take Dad and Mom out to a restaurant this afternoon. Kansas City is known for its great barbecue, and Jack Stack is probably its best. We had a delightful time enjoying each other’s fellowship.

After we got home, everyone tackled projects, and we rounded out the day with Bible time (and talking!), dessert, and gifts.

We love you, Dad and Mom!

Love,
Sarah for the rest

Joshua Turns Two

We celebrated Joshua’s birthday at the park with pizza and cupcakes. It was a wonderful summer evening. The children loved playing on the playground and running to their hearts’ content. Sweaty smiles and birthday songs floated around as Joshua blew out his candles. He was quite delighted with the whole evening, and his cute giggles were a delight to everyone. He loves Gigi’s “lawn mower” and was pleased to take it for a spin.

Sunday Family Times

Sundays are a special day of worship, rest, and family for us. Every Sunday, we all try to gather at our house for a meal after church. It’s a sweet time of talking and enjoying one another’s fellowship.

Our typical meal is burritos (my favorite!). For those who’ve followed our blog awhile, you know we make the bean filling in large batches a few times a year.

Often Abby and Bethany help me with tortillas. Bethany portions out little balls of dough, while Abby works on mini tortillas with a press a young lady from Mexico gave her.  The sisters-in-law join us in the kitchen and help with lunch preparations.

This Sunday we also caught up on some birthday gifts, along with giving presents friends had sent for Ruthanne and Joshua. There was a lot of happy noise and activity!

Joyfully His,
Sarah

An exciting proposition: Joshua loves lawnmowers. The drawback the rest of us observed. Lawnmowing tile is an extremely noisy proposition.

“Serve the LORD with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”
Psalms 100:2-3

A Few Pictures from Memorial Day

Nathan did a craft project with the girls on Memorial Day. They painted their hands like a flag and pressed them on paper. Very creative!

let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:
