Cabinet Polishing, Cleaning, and Other Projects

To begin our Christmas celebrations, we decided to do family projects on Monday, the 23rd. Our first project was to polish the cabinets at our house. Not very exciting, you might think? Well, we had a blast talking and laughing as we worked. I thought it would take us awhile, but we did the entire kitchen, which has a lot of cabinet surface area, in about thirty-five minutes. Fast progress!

After that, we girls dropped in at Melanie’s to clean their house. Each of the aunts got a helper (three aunties and three nieces!). Bethany was mine for awhile, and I enjoyed her enthusiasm. At one point, she was squirting the side of the bath tub and wiping it off. In her sweet voice, she asked me, “Do you like to clean with little children?” (Of course I told her I did.) So precious.

The afternoon’s project was to work at Joseph’s house. We cleaned, polished cabinets, installed shelving, painted, and hung temporary blinds. When we were through with that, we girls got busy with Christmas baking for the next day.

Many hands equal the Maxwell team!

Some cabinets require more than being on a chair.

  1. I was wondering, what polish do you use on your cabinets? The house we live in now has nice cabinets, and I’d like to keep them that way! Thanks!

  2. Teri’s apron looks like a wonderful cleaning tool! Lots of pockets to hold various supplies. Where did she get it?

    Thanks! Love the pictures!

  3. What is your secret for getting grease off kitchen cabinets? I am at my wits end. Murphy Oil soap is not cutting it! I tried Dawn and that with a sponge on my cherry cabinets which definitely help but I figured there had to be a better way. If you have any tricks do share!

Guardsman Wood Furniture Liquid Polish, They also have a cleaner. Ours haven’t been greasy, so we don’t know how well it does with grease.

  4. What a blessed encouragement it is to see you all having fun AND cleaning ! I shall be showing this post to my family!!

I think they’ve been trying some from Trader Joe’s.

  8. I was wondering what was Mrs. Maxwell using for the floors in that picture? Everything looks so great and that is such a great thing to do for your siblings!
