Week #2: Exciting Progress!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this project. Families continue to join, and that’s awesome. If you’ve been thinking about it, you still can. 🙂

Christmas Comes to Sunflower is currently in the editing stage, and I’m loving it. It’s due to go to our copyeditor the day before Thanksgiving. I positively can’t wait to share it with all who complete the project!

One family had to make two entries to sign up because there were so many of them: fifteen in fact, all but the youngest (even the dad and mom are in on it)! They were very kind to give me permission to share their picture with you all.

Here are some memorizing hints from one of our readers:

  • Write on small cards-3×5 index cut in half or blank business cards are good.
  • Place in prominent place in house, i.e. over kitchen sink or in bathroom.
  • Write out entire verse each morning until learned.
  • Look at just the reference and say the verse out loud.
  • Cover card with another card and uncover only the portion you have said to be sure it is done from memory.

So, y’all! Stay on board! Keep memorizing to God’s glory!

Joyfully Serving Jesus,
Sarah

  1. Have you ever heard of the Bible Bee? It might inspire your readers who are doing this challenge. It is a national bible memorization competition. The national competition is this weekend where the top 120 competitors for each Primary (7-10 year olds) Junior (11-14 year olds) and Senior (15-18 year olds) category meet and are tested on bible memory and knowledge. For the local competition each division only had to memorize 60 verses and it was over the summer. For nationals, the primary age division was supposed to memorize 400 verses, the junior – 600, I think, and senior – 800, I think. The competition will be webcast for free on Friday and Saturday. I think it will really inspire people to hide God’s word in their heart.

  2. What a blessing with all those children in the pic.

We are going to sign up for the project!!!

I enjoy verse memorizing. My favorite place to do it is my closet – it’s such a quiet place. 🙂

  5. Our Anna is very excited to be memorizing scripture from Luke 2 and learn part of the Christmas story from God’s Word. This is a PERFECT way to get into the Christmas Spirit…Scripture memory!
Sarah, this is an amazing idea and I love your enthusiasm!
    Blessings, Sister!
