Even Little Things Can Encourage – Answered Prayer

Recently, I had been wanting a new case for my phone.  One day I thought about ordering one, but being the frugal, homeschooling mom that I am, I felt this prompting. “The case you have works great. You just don’t like the way the white has turned dirty looking. A new case isn’t a need. Why don’t you try praying for the Lord to provide you with a new case if He wants you to have one while being content with this one.” So I prayed and went about my day.

At lunch time, Sarah brought a pile of things from her closet that she had been dejunking. She handed me a brand new, turquoise, cell phone case and said, “I think this would fit your phone, Mom. Do you want it? It was in my closet, and I am not going to use it.” I was delighted. This was such a small thing, but I so enjoyed seeing the Lord answer my prayer.

Every time one of my children or grandchildren noticed my new cell phone case, I was able to give God the praise for His answer to prayer and His provision.

Not every thing I pray for or about is answered so quickly or even in the direction I was praying like this one was. However, the more we pray, the more the Lord answers. He can’t answer if we aren’t praying. When He answers, we have the opportunity to give Him praise and glory as we share those answers with other.

Trusting in Jesus,
Teri

and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”

  1. Thank you for sharing this with us, dear Teri. I love knowing that the Lord also cares about the “little details” in our lives, and how wonderful that He provided you with that new case (love that turquoise, by the way!). 🙂

  2. That’s wonderful, Mrs. Maxwell! How often do the “little things” bring some of the biggest impacts on our lives. And the phone case is such a beautiful color, too. 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

    Blessings,
    Katie

  3. Yes! Such an encouraging post. What a joy for this to happen to send a special and personal answer to show you His love! We have many testimonies of such things that the LORD has done; it is faith building! He cares even about the ‘little’ things – Mum’s do so many seemingly ‘little’ things in our day for our families and Our Heavenly Father delights to do those things for us, but as you have mentioned He sometimes answers as we ask, many times He answers in His manifold wisdom; but INDEED we must be praying at all times about all things! I leave here edified in my day that He sees and cares! Blessings from Australia!

  4. Thanks for posting this. It’s encouraging to me. I often struggle with the idea that God cares for all our needs, even the small things. Sometimes, I hesitate to pray for thing I think God might consider silly or unimportant. And yet I can see God working out a little detail for you and it just encourages me that I can take anything to Him in prayer.

  5. God cares about us…the big things and the small things!

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

  6. Isn’t it wonderful how He provides even for the little things? Things that really aren’t needs, but make us a little happier.
    He is truly so wonderful!

  7. I love this post because God does use little things like this to build our faith. I also liked how you pointed out that he does not always answer like he did in this situation. Thank you for sharing! God encourages us to pray in many little ways.

I am a bit late in reading your family’s blog. Read your message concerning your phone case. That is awesome. I have had things like that answered by the Lord. Makes you really feel wonderful inside doesn’t it? But you know it makes me feel good even when He says no. Because He knows better than I and I didn’t need something or to go some place. Thank you for sharing. Reminds us of who to keep our eyes upon.
