Mount Jones

We decided to climb Mt. Jones Tuesday (a 13er), allowing Wednesday as a rest day before the 14er adventure.

The first part wasn’t too hard, just steady climbing, picking one’s way along the rocky path. We split into three groups near the base of the mountain. The younger decided to tackle it straight up, going two different routes, while Dad, Mom, and I preferred to follow the path and take the saddle over.

Thank you to Mary for selecting the pictures for this post. We missed John, who had to stay back due to a work project.

Joyfully His,
Sarah
PS – I can’t wait to share our 14er adventure!

On our way back, we stopped at a lake, because we saw Christopher, Anna Marie, John (done with work for the moment) and Joshua. Joshua was enjoying throwing little rocks into the water.

and the fellowship of his sufferings,
being made conformable unto his death.”

  1. Hello,Sarah!
I love the wonderful pictures of the mountains y’all post and it looks like so much fun! I noticed even the ladies have on hiking shoes too – may I ask where y’all found them? Is there a specific brand you like over others? I googles hiking shoes and couldn’t find anything similar.
I hope y’all are having a blessed vacation with everyone. God bless everyone. Be safe.

Almost everyone’s shoes are Merrell’s. They are very reasonably priced and have performed well for us.
    Thank you.

  2. Great pictures! Are the guys doing a beard growing challenge?

They were something different for vacation. We’ll see when they go away.

  3. Beautiful pics. As much as I would love to see it for myself I doubt I ever will so I will continue to live vicariosly through you all. Yes the pic of the shadow on the mountain is pretty. I also like the pic with the dark rain cloud above.
Praying for safe travels back home.

    Thank you.

  4. Wonderful photos. I especially love the one with the hand holding onto Joshua’s dungarees to stop him leaping into danger! I have a 14 month old boy and so this pose is all to familiar.

  5. Been really enjoying keeping up with you all on the blog. Such wonderful pics!! We love you all and pray for you always!

    Thank you!

  6. I have really come to really enjoy your vacation posts each year. The mountains are just beautiful, and seeing the chipmunks at St. Elmo is such a treat. The little ones are really growing. The photo of your parents is just awesome!

  7. Like a previous poster, it is unlikely I will ever do the hiking you do, but sure appreciate your photos. The thing that stands out to me in this last set of photos is how blue the sky is. The color is just spectacular. The mountain vistas are too, but I had to come back more than once to look at that sky. Wow. Thanks for sharing!
