Anniversary Dinner, Moody Style

We receive e-mails (frequently) about the Moody books, along with some snail mail letters. For you Moody readers, take heart, I have been busy working on … can you guess ;)? More later on that.

MoodySeries

Hi Sarah,

I was just writing a note of encouragement to a friend and thought I would copy and paste part of that email for you to read. Thank you again for blessing so many families with the Moody series!

—We had our 29th anniversary yesterday. Kimberly (11) & Karyssa (8) made dinner for Keith and I last night, “Moody” style! If you remember back to the 4th book in the Moody series Spring with the Moodys, the children made dinner for their parents. My girls read that part over and over again, planned the meal, went shopping (with Keith), set up a card table in the living room with a table cloth and candle, and made a menu and some signs for us to follow to the dining area.

I helped Kimberly with ideas on how to plan and execute. I had her think about what time she would be serving dinner, and work back from there to determine what time she needed to start preparation, put things in the oven, etc. I also provided the recipes. They did amazingly well. We were SO impressed. They served smoked salmon on cream cheese and crackers for an appetizer, then an iceburg wedge salad (Keith’s favorite) followed by Filet Mignon, Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce and Garlic French Bread. Dessert was Caramelized Apples a la mode.—

“What man is he that feareth the LORD?
him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.”
Psalms 25:12

  1. A meal fit for kings! Wow! Sarah, our children really like to read that chapter over and over again. Thanks for writing it.

  2. Sarah,
What are the age group of children that you are writing these books toward? I have a 9 year old boy and a 12 year old daughter…

Generally, seven through twelve, but we have younger children loving them as read alouds, and parents tell us how much they love them too.

  3. Y’all go girls! Some future professional cooks coming on. Wow! Sounds like a really neat meal.

  4. Our girls got the Moody book set for Christmas, and we had read all of them by March. Our oldest (about to turn 4) is eagerly anticipating book #8. Thanks for that ministry. In the meantime, we are re-reading them.

  5. I just hoped on your site to see about a new Moody book! We will be looking forward to it. Thanks for providing excellent reading material for Christian families.

We came to the mission field one year ago with our 5 children ages 7, 6, 4, 2, and 11 months. We began reading one chapter of the Moody family books each evening before bed. The stories were very comforting to the children during a very difficult transitional time. The kids connected with the Moody children and really enjoyed reading about their adventures. One evening, we had to toss the book down and run out of the house. We were having an earthquake!!! Life on the mission field is never boring. 🙂 Thanks for using your talents to bless my family. We are very grateful.

    Love, the Mooks
PS God has blessed us abundantly during our year here, including the blessing of another baby boy. God is good in all his ways.

    Amen and amen!
