A Little Idea Turned Into Abundant Joy

Monday morning, we had a special baby shower. It was Anna Marie and Abby’s idea. With a young missionary couple visiting this past weekend who are expecting their first little one, Anna Marie and Abby thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to have a baby shower. What a great idea! With short notice, they put the shower together, and there were eighteen of us in attendance.

The couple’s baby is due in June. What a delight it was to celebrate this new life and to share in their joy.

Abigail helped to decorate with decorations we had saved from Melanie and Anna Marie’s baby showers last year.

Our friends, the C. family, put together a powerful assortment of Scripture verses for the new mommy to read and meditate on when she’s up with her baby in the night.

Abby and Bethie sang Jesus Loves the Little Children and each presented the new mama with a rose.

We played two games. The first was this: it’s Sunday morning, you let the baby sleep in, and now you have to hurry to get the baby ready for church. We had two teams. The other game was UNO (Abby’s idea ;)).

Another Safari Visit

The family made Saturday an extra special day by deciding to go to Springfield to the drive-through wildlife safari. As some of you faithful blog readers may remember, we went to the safari for a surprise to celebrate Dad’s 60th birthday a year and a half ago.

We left a little after 6:30 a.m. arriving at the safari about 10:40 where we bought our tickets and animal food. Then off we went for the adventure.

We saw several horse and buggy teams. Notice the ladder?

Mr. Ostrich greeted us first. Dad cautiously opened his window enough to feed him, and if Mr. Ostrich misjudged where the food was, his beak pecked loudly on the window. We didn’t stay with him too long before we headed on.

These guys were really cute.

Mom was even able to feed them out her window.

Look at that zebra’s mouth–talk about a lot of teeth and lips.

Notice in the rearview mirror the total zebra stripe?

Camel’s head is coming in, and Joseph’s protecting his face.

“Can’t we be friends?” The camel seems to be smiling.

DSC_0582That’s a huge head.

DSC_0590This camel definitely had a selfish streak. What we fed him was never enough.

DSC_0613Self-portrait :-). Everyone took turns feeding the animals (except for me, I preferred to use my camera and not get slobbery hands :-)), but, as evidenced by the pictures, there are more of some than others.

We went out for a meal at Lambert’s, home of the Throwed Rolls. It was a great adventure!

DSC_0676

DSC_0680It was a special day. Tonight, we’ll be celebrating again, with a family birthday party.

If you haven’t settled the question as to where you will spend eternity, please don’t put it off. Just yesterday, my heart broke, as I shared with a sweet, elderly woman, who appears to be dying. From all evidence, she has rejected Jesus. I pray she turns to Him in her last hours. If you think of it, please pray for Miss A.

Isaiah 55: 6-7: “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

Love,
Sarah

Happy Birthday, Sarah!

We love you so much and are so thankful for you! Your servant’s heart shines through you, and your generosity in every walk of life continues to bless us and others. It is a joy to see how the Lord is using you, and we look forward to how He will use you in the future.

It’s exciting to watch you start into your next Moody book, and we know there are many eager readers who can’t wait for you to complete it!

Love you lots,
Your family

Gabriel’s Experience with ITonRamp and A+

A mini, impromptu, informal interview with Gabriel. Gabriel has completed numerous ITonRamp courses. Thanks, Gabriel, for sharing with us!

DSC_0331

The next A+ course begins January 28th, so there is still time to register. Read what Gabriel has to say about his experience with ITonRamp and A+.

What kind of benefit did you get from the A+ course?

Definitely an overall knowledge of computer hardware. In addition, software and in-depth knowledge of the operating systems for Windows. Also how to communicate better in a strategic manner with the customers—learning to use words that make sense to them.

How do you see yourself using those skills in your career?

It’s going to have a large impact. As part of IT consulting, that knowledge is critical. Having an in-depth knowledge of operating systems and computer hardware and being able to understand that and being competent in that area is critical to troubleshooting and fixing any product in a business or home environment.

What would you say to other young people considering A+?

If they are considering a job in IT, it is extremely important. It is one of the basic foundational, certifications that you can get. It’s also helpful just in a home environment, because of the troubleshooting techniques and basic understanding of how a computer works, learned in this course. Doing self-study in that area can be very beneficial, but I’ve found that being in a class environment makes for easier/better accountability. You benefit so much from the webinars, forum, and calls every week, and it equips you for knowing how to study in a way that is streamlined and effective.  Seriously recommended if you are going for a career in IT.

and thine ears to the words of knowledge.”

Happy 22nd Birthday, John!

Happy Birthday, John! You are such a blessing to our family. We delight to see your love for Jesus and your desire to serve Him. May this coming year be one in which you draw even closer to the Lord Jesus. We love you!

Love,
Dad, Mom, Sarah, Joseph, Anna, Jesse, and Mary
