Consider the Lilies

“And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” –Matthew 6:28-30

As I was memorizing this portion of Scripture, I was struck with this section:

“Consider the lilies
of the field,
how they grow”

Consider with me. Marvel at the Lord’s amazing, tender lovingkindness. Consider what the Lord has done for you today.

I know the picture with this post isn’t a lily, but it will have to suffice for a picture. Look at these flowers. They were blooming and growing, high upon a mountain.

  1. This truly speaks to me today. We are having a hard time; but I know God will provide for us. Thanks Sarah.

  2. The Lord has brought me out of a very painful bout with a pinch sciatic nerve this morning along with giving me a couple of great ideas for projects in the next couple of months. I love that the Lord not only keeps me busy but also sees to it that I feel like staying busy.

    Blessings

  3. Thank you for this reminder, Sarah. The Lord has poured out SO many blessings, and I need to think on them more often. 🙂

  4. Sarah,

Thank you for this post and these words of encouragement. Reading the inspired word of the Lord today has helped me to see the many blessings I do have and to know that He will provide for us in all circumstances. We are experiencing extreme heat and bushfire danger where we live in Australia and the last few days have been hard.

I am always grateful for your ministry to us.

Praying you will stay out of harm’s way.

  5. We are experiencing the same conditions as Cate. Sarah’s post was a comfort to us as well. Psalms 145 has been particularly encouraging for us today. Psalms 145:9 The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. We are abiding in the hope of our great God!
    Blessings,

So convicting and humbling! Thank you Sarah for the reminder to consider the lilies! 🙂

  7. Yes, so true. Alanna and I have been really amazed and in awe of God as we study parts of His creation during science. If we really stop and consider, think carefully and reflect, on any part of God’s creation we can just step back, throw our hands up, and praise Him! We serve an awesome God!
