Join Us on a Costco Run

Anna and Mom are power shoppers at Costco. They have their list ready (on Mom’s phone), and they breeze through the store efficiently. I tagged along today to capture it for y’all.

We also shop at super Wal-Marts for food items, but we try for a Costco once-a-week on the road.

So grab your cart, and let’s go.

They know where to begin, so I follow.

Grab some hamburger meat.

With our morning smoothies, we go through apples. We’ll be doing a post soon on step-by-step instructions for making one.

Brrr! The walk-in refrigerator section is not one you want to stay in for long.

We drink bottled water, so Anna loads several cases into the cart.

The cart is filling up with items we’ll need over the next week.

Checkout went smoothly, and we’re off to unload.

We like to do a chain unload. Anna hands things in, and the family grabs items and carry them back.

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink;
but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
Romans 14:17

  1. That was fun. Love the little comments. Thanks for sharing & for the upcoming smoothie recipe!

  2. I just love grocery shopping. Maybe that’s dorky? LOL Anyway, I am all efficient with a list and it’s hilarious to me that passer-bys often see my list and comment on the organization. I am not pushing anything on you, promise. We always drank bottled water. At a Publix I bought the Rubbermaid water bottle with a filter inside. The bottle was 9.99 and comes with a filter. We each have our own color of bottle so there’s no confusion. The filters last 3 months, and you get a 2-pack for 9.99. Using one bottle indefinitely and one filter for 3 months at a time has saved us a lot of money when figured up, as I used to drink 5 bottles a day myself. Also, our trash can is much less crowded now. Ha! And I feel like I can grab water anywhere because of my filter. Just an idea. I never thought I’d like reusable. My mother-in-law bought the Brita one and hated it, so she got the Rubbermaid like me and really likes it. Okay, long comment. Sorry! Enjoy the rest of the journey!

  3. We are getting to follow along on quite a bit more of the trip this time. It’s fun. Thanks.

  4. Wow! Power shoppers is the right description. I have never been to a Costco but I can see how large they are. Talk about one-stop shopping. The ladies of the Maxwell family certainly have a wonderful system in place, which does not surprise me one bit. I hope you are all well.

  5. The Arrowhead water is on sale making it cheaper than the Kirkland brand thru the 7th! Love the Costco! Try the homemade chicken soup. The soup, a loaf of bread and a bag of their salad mix make an excellant quick dinner when you are on the run.

  6. Hello Maxwell Family!

How wonderful that the size of your family allows you to unload and put things away in chain fashion! As you well know, you are blessed!

    Enjoy your weekend!

P.S. Glad you were not involved in the accident posted above.

  7. Wonderful! Does your family still do the menu planning/shopping as described in the past? I would love if you can share sometime how you’ve modified it to healthier eating. Bless you all~our ohana is really enjoying the scenic photos and the praise updates of your trips since we can’t see the mainland!
