Friday in Pictures

After a restful night sleep, we felt refreshed and ready for Friday. We had Bible time and breakfast before packing out of the hotel. As a tradition, before reaching our final destination, we go to REI and Costco or Sams.

The REI was an old trolley station that was converted to a retail store. It was a beautiful building. We get the standard items: new hiking socks, blister gear, etc.

The drive from Denver up was very pretty, even though there was a heavy smoke haze.

When we arrived at the cabin, Nathan, Melanie, and the girls were there to greet us. Here Bethie is helping Anna unload the apples.

Yes! There was a little bear excitement. Nathan, Melanie, and the girls were at the playground near the lodge, and there was a black bear about twenty feet up in a tree. I guess we’ll have to be watchful.

Dad grilled chicken for us last night.

The birthday Grandma!

Josh took a nap.

We brought a cheesecake from home I made the other night.

We’re ready for a good hike today!

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep:
for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”
Psalms 4:8

  1. I loved these photos!! πŸ™‚ What a blessing for you all to be together in such a lovely place. Baby Joshua is certainly growing–what a doll. ALL the Maxwell children (AND grandchildren!) are so precious–I especially enjoyed the photo of Baby J sleeping…so sweet. ~ Everyone looks wonderful–happy and healthy. Mr. Maxwell’s grilled chicken looked delicious–I could almost “smell” the smoke from the grill. πŸ˜‰ Thank you again for taking time to share, and continued prayers for a blessed time of fellowship. Love, Mrs. Patti

  2. Looks like you all are having a great time.Loved all the pictures but my favourite one – John & Bethany,so cute!Sarah, thank you for sharing this with us.

  3. Praying for you all to have a restful, enjoyable vacation. Although I have never met your family in person, I do follow your blog and have several of your books. Your family is such an encouragement to me as a wife, mother, and homeschooling Mom. The joy and cheerfulness you have through work and family life shines through in your photographs. Thank you for sharing. It is refreshing.

  4. Happy belated birthday Teri. I was busy celebrating me daughter’s birthday yesterday and didn’t get on here to wish you blessings on yours but I was thinking of you and as always you were in my prayers as are the rest of the family. May the Lord fill you all with his peace and joy today. Thank you for all you do you are truly a blessing to so many.

    Love Sondra J.

  5. Your cabin is quite upscale compared to the one we go to in northern Ontario. No running water, no indoor plumbing, an outhouse behind the cabin, bathing in the lake with minnows all around. No phone, no electricity. It is so peaceful, I love it.

Is it still quite smokey there from the recent fires? That has to be hard on the allergies.

I hope you get some great hikes in. And maybe more bear photos, but from a safe distance.

Does anyone else report how hard the ReCapticha is to copy? It always takes me 2 or 3 tries to get it right.
I’m sorry if ReCapticha is difficult. It has cut down on moderating time.

  6. Thank you for the lovely photos. Just wanted to let you know that you are in my heart and prayers.

  7. Hope you had a special birthday Teri! I can’t think of a better present than spending time hiking with the whole family and just being together. Rejoicing in His goodness to you this year.

    Prayers and hugs for everyone!

  8. Love the Swiss Army clock. We love clocks in our house. Where was the photot taken?
