Another Birthday Celebration … Early

We’re on a roll with celebrating! Mary’s birthday is the 21st of this month, and we expect to be traveling, so we had a party for her last week. She’ll be sweet sixteen! Although she’s been working ahead on school, she took the day off, and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and shopping. Mary is such a delight and joy and has a heart for the Lord.

Yes, we really do have lots of choices of salad dressings, and believe me, that’s not all.

There’s no lack of offers to hold babies.

Don’t worry. Salad was not our main course.

Anyone for a game of Uno?

Bethie has her own way of playing the game. It’s pretty cute.

Mary received a wonderful assortment of gifts: from card-making items to clothes.

for her price is far above rubies.” — Proverbs 31:10

  1. Love Miss Mary! Happy early birthday! Celebrating birthdays with little folks is such a treat. I hope you all get plenty of baby/kiddo time in before you leave, and I hope your trip preparations are uneventful and productive.

    In Christ,

    Lori

  2. Happy Birthday Mary, albeit a bit early.
I love Ken’s Steakhouse Poppyseed Dressing and their Sweet Onion.

  3. Happy 16th Birthday Mary!!! 🙂 Looks like you all had a fun time. Love all those photos–so cute. That one of Mary and Anna is precious. 🙂 Thank you for sharing a glimpse into your special family celebrations. May the Lord continue to bless all the Maxwells. Love, Mrs. Patti 🙂
p.s. Mary has certainly blossomed into a beautiful young lady.

  4. Happy Birthday! I hope you had a great celebration. God be with you and your famiy.

  6. Should I say “happy birthday” now or wait ’til the real day?
That cheesecake looks really good! Sounds like Mary got some nice gifts.
Looks like a fun, nice day of fellowship.

  7. Happy early birthday Mary.

I love Uno. It’s a great game because you can be very young, or very old, and still play. Sorry is our family’s other favorite game.

Do you get to have cake twice? Today and then again on your real birthday?

Somehow it often works out to be two birthdays in a way, but only one with everyone together. We always try to make the real day special in some way.

  8. Happy Sweet Sixteen Mary!

Although I’ve been a long time reader, I never realized that you were just about my age! (I turned sixteen late last year.) I’ve always thought of you up with the rest of the older siblings!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday and blessings on your schoolwork…I’m also trying to finish homeschooling year 12 too by end of this year. 😀

  9. Somehow, whenever you post about Mary’s birthday, I am deeply struck by the contrast between what a “Maxwell teen” would think important, and what I thought was important when I was the same age (eg. what my peers thought of me!). Thank you for the inspiration, and showing me that a “long obedience in the same direction” is indeed profitable.

  10. Happy Birthday Mary. Precious pictures. I’m thinking Bethie usually always wins at uno.
Love that you got card making supplies. That is near and dear to my heart. Sometimes people need to know that we have spent a little extra time with just them in mind. Every year in January I spend the month making Valentine cards for kids in Childrens Hospitals all over the US. I don’t get to see their faces when they receive them but I know they must enjoy them. I made 400 this year and I think the drive sent somewhere around 3000. That’s a lot of children who were blessed by card making.
Even though the Great State of Texas is not on your Fall trip I’m still anxious to here about and see your experiences.
The love you all have for Christ shows in your lives that you live out.

    Happy Sweet 16.

  11. Happy birthday, Mary! My family and I are thinking of coming to one of your conferences this fall. I can’t wait! 🙂 Love ya’ll!

  12. Happy Birthday, Mary. Hope you enjoyed your early day and the real day.
