Christina Mercy Maxwell

After a very hard labor, the doctor deemed it necessary to do an emergency C-section, and at 1:57 p.m. Christina Mercy entered the world. She was 9 pounds 6 ounces and doing fine. Melanie is “okay,” and we are praising God for His mercy and grace.

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

–Micah 6:8

  1. Congratulations! Wonderful news! But the word “okay” worries me – that is usually code for “not very well”.

  2. She is beautiful! Praise the Lord all is well. Congratulations.

    In Christ Love,

  3. Congratulations! It’s wonderful to see how your whole family embraces the precious gift of life. Praying for Mom and Baby!

  4. So sorry…I missed the photo of Christina. She is beautiful! She looks very content, like she’ll be a very good baby. Please give us an update on Melanie soon, if you can.

  5. What a beautiful baby and a perfect name!
If she can stand to wear one, see if Melody can get a binder for her stomach to wear. They saved my life post c-section both times and made recovery so much easier.

  6. Just decided to pop back onto your blog and see if there were any pictures and was pleasantly surprised to see Christina’s sweet face.
She’s a beautiful baby and I pray that she will bring much joy to their family!

  7. Praise the Lord! What a pretty little girl! Congratulations to all the Maxwells as you welcome your newest little member to the family! Blessings and prayers to Melanie as she recovers and enjoys that sweet little blessing!

  11. Praise the Lord for this precious baby girl!!! πŸ™‚ I am thrilled to read that Baby Christina has been born, and pray she’ll continue to be healthy and strong. Extra prayers for Melanie—bless her heart—I am praying she’ll heal completely from this ordeal, and am glad she has family close by to help out. She’ll need LOTS of rest after surgery (my 3rd baby was an emergency c-section). Congratulations to ALL the Maxwell family! πŸ™‚

  13. So glad that Melanie delivered a healthy baby girl. I hope Melanie can get a little rest, as a hard labor and c-section take a lot out of you. Christina is a beautiful baby.

I hope Melanie will have a day or two of pampering before she picks up being a mommy of 3. She’s going to have her hands full. Will anyone come and stay with her while the family in on the road trip?

    Congratulations Melanie and Nathan.
Likely someone will be staying with her.

  14. Rejoicing with you all in our house down under!! We are so glad to hear that baby is here safe and well. We are so blessed to live in a time where we have access to good medical practices, that enable tough situations to have a better outcome! Jesus is so good and so rich in His mercy toward us! We will continue to be in prayer for these early days of healing and adjustment!

  15. Congratulations on the birth of Christina Mercy! What a big girl she is! Praying for a speedy recovery for Melanie and a good adjustment to 3 children. Praying in the Czech Republic!

  16. congratulations on the birth of precious Christina Mercy. I have had 2 emergency c-sections myself. Please don’t think that c-sections are bad; it may not have been what you were praying for, but the end result (baby) is all that matters. You are no less of a mother because you didn’t deliver the traditional way. Blessings to you all – Christina Mercy is gorgeous!

  17. Congratulations on GodÒ€ℒs newest blessing! The picture is absolutely precious! Your walk with the Lord is such a wonderful testimony to everyone. Sending wishes and blessings your way!
Hope Melanie is feeling well now. Praying for her.

Praying for Melanie, as I know the days after a delivery can be very tiring, especially after a rough delivery. Beautiful name for a beautiful little girl! Looking forward to more pictures.

  27. What a beautiful baby girl. I am so happy for Melanie and Nathan. I imagine Abby and Bethany are very excited about their little sister. Hope Melanie is able to take it easy and mend.

  28. She is so cute. We have been praying for everybody. Another girl! i am sure Abby and Bethany love her!

  29. Christina Mercy is beautiful you should be proud as I’ll bet you are. Take time to recover and accept ALL help that is offered to you as recovery time is longer because it’s a major op but don’t fret and bond with baby. Congratulations to you and Nathan.

    Take care

  30. Congratulations. I was so pleased to hear the news. I was also excited to see the name. I was suspicious that they may be doing the names in order of the alphabet when I saw Abigail and Bethany. Once I saw Christina I was almost certain…is this the case?

    All the best,

    A, B, C

  31. So sweet. We rejoice with you for another precious life.

You might remember that we have 5 girls. An old man told my husband that he was the luckiest of all men because daughters give kisses forever while sons graduate to a pat on the back. Not universally true, of course, but still made us laugh.

My last was an emergency c-section, and it was a very rough recovery physically and emotionally. Still, I was so grateful to have a healthy baby, and I know Melanie is, too.

    Congratulations and blessings to all.

  32. Praise the Lord! I am so glad to hear that all is well with the baby. I will be praying for Melanie’s recovery. God has definitely blessed their faithfulness.

  33. How wonderful to have 3 little sisters! Just think -what fun they will have growing up together. Isn’t God so good! Congratulations on Little Christina’s safe and healthy arrival, and may Melanie heal quickly with the help from our Lord.

  34. Gorgeous girl! I had an emergency section in December when we had our 6th. How incredibly blessed are we to have such great medical care available to us ?! So happy mom and baby are ok, delivery can be as dangerous as it is miraculous. God is so good

  35. May God bless you and your growing family (A, B, C, and all the other letters yet to come!) with His wisdom!

  36. Congratulations!!! She is beautiful!! I know emergency sections are hard, please take it easy those first few days but don’t forget to walk several times in short periods or you will get so sore (can’t remember if you have had a c-section before). I’ve had a total of five and can say that they do get easier each time. Not saying that you will need another one next time but just wanted to give you a word of encouragement about that!!! You are so blessed she is just precious!! Can’t wait to see some sweet girly pictures of all three of them!

  37. A very belated “Congratulations”!
I have been enjoying the photos in some of the next posts, too. So good to read that Melanie & baby Christina are both home.

Since reading the last “Mom’s Corner” (which is a blessing to all of us, even those of us who aren’t mothers at this point in time!), I have been learning Psalm 103 – and I had been noticing all the mentions in there of God’s MERCY!

  38. She is such an adorable baby. Lord willing Melanie is doing well now. πŸ™‚ Congratulations!!!
