  2. He has a nicely shaped head for a newborn. So many look like coneheads. There is nothing like a new baby to renew one’s faith. Anna Marie and Christopher look very happy.

  5. Joshua IS amazing. A a premie, and possible DES baby (I was adopted in a closed arrangement), I can’t prove why I never grew to average height, or have deformed arms, legs, fingers and toes. I weighed 16 lbs. on my first birthday. I was also diagnosed as bipolar 5 years ago and I don’t care what anyone says, the medications corrected the mess of synaptic connections in my brain.

    That said, I’d rather take the medications to enhance the incredible brain that allows me conscious discernment, in addition to the ability to merely function than suffer excrutiating bipolar disorder.

    That said, I wish only the best for Joshua, Abby, Bethany and the siblings/cousins to come.

  15. Absolutely a precious beautiful gift. Anna Marie is radiant mother and Christopher looks like a natural holding his son. Our family is so happy for all of you. I couldn’t help but think back to the blog, pre-courtship days for Christopher. It is truly amazing to see the blesses of the last couple of years. Your willingness to share through the blog is a blessing for many and a testimony.

  18. Congratulations! I was really struck by the first photo of Christopher holding little Joshua and the attitude of Joshua’s head toward his father. I remember that immediately after each of my children were delivered he/she would always move his/her head toward either my husband’s or my voice as if they recognized us. That picture of Christopher with Joshua looks the same to me. He looks like a little boy who knows that he’s in his father’s arms and I agree with your prayers that as he grows, little Joshua will know his Heavenly Father and rest just as comfortably in His arms.

  39. Congratulations to all espically Christopher and Anna Marie. Love the name as well Blessings to you and your family. I had been thinking and praying for you. A Home birth as well I have had 2 of them and loved every min about it espically being at home and in my own bed .

  41. What a privilege it is to obey the command to “rejoice with those who rejoice”!!

    Beautiful baby, beautiful name, beautiful parents!

    I especially enjoyed the four-generation photo y’all posted the other day. Please make sure to get one of the four generations now that Joshua has been born (whether you post it or not) and do the same when Melanie has her baby. Our family has, well I guess it’s a tradition, of making 4 generation pictures, and they are among my the most treasured things I own. In the first one, I’m the newborn; in the next, I’m the mama; and in the last one so far, I’m the grandmother. I hope I’ll be around in 25y or so to be the great-grandma!

    Oh, and the other thing that I just **love** about newborns–the way they’ll grasp your thumb with their toes when you place it just below them on the sole of their foot. Just makes me melt every time.

    And remember: the days are long, but the years are short.
