Anna Marie’s Baby Shower

Thursday evening was a special time of celebrating with ladies the upcoming birth of Baby Maxwell.

The shower idea was initiated by Abby. She loved reading about the baby shower in Spring with the Moodys. About four years ago, the ladies in the neighborhood had thrown a shower for Melanie and Abby. We thought we’d host a shower this time for Anna Marie!

Dad and John helped us with decoration hanging.

Ready!

Anna Marie, GiGi, and Anna.

Anna had a last-minute idea for ladies to sign a onesie for the baby. It was a practical guestbook.

The first game we played was “guess mommy’s tummy size”. You couldn’t try out the yarn on yourself to get an idea, so it was strictly a guess. There were many giggles as ladies tried to figure out what length to cut their yarn.

Then, we started out with two ladies. They each tried their yarn around Anna Marie’s stomach, and the lady who was the closest, stayed standing until another lady’s beat hers.

Mrs. L, to Anna Marie’s left, won the game, with an extremely close piece of yarn.

The next game was “guess the baby item,” and we passed seven paper bags around, each containing a useful baby item. Would you believe Mrs. L won both games?! We didn’t make the items easy to guess either. Way to go, Mrs. L.!

A and B helped Anna, as she opened each bag and announced the item.

While Mom shared a poem, Scripture, and some thoughts on raising children, Anna prepared the little girls for a special presentation. By the way, Mary made the matching outfits.

Abigail sang Jesus Loves Me, and then she and Bethie presented Anna Marie with a flower. For those who have read Spring with the Moodys, you’ll know Maddie sang a song and gave a flower to Mom.

Anna Marie was given an amazing assortment of items. Our hearts were overwhelmed by the generosity of our sweet, neighborhood friends. They showered Anna Marie and her new baby with so many practical things. I enjoyed seeing the thoughtfulness and creativity put into each gift.

Mrs. L not only brought a gift for Anna Marie, but she also gave gifts to the little girls. Mrs. L’s mom made A and B two sets of matching sweaters! They were so sweet.

The whole group.

Christopher came to get Anna Marie and her gifts after everything was done. Don’t they look like such a happy couple?

It was a very special evening, celebrating the upcoming birth of Baby Maxwell with our friends from the area. We are grateful that the ladies took time out of their schedules to come and bless Anna Marie and Christopher.

Jesse’s graduation post will be in the next day or so.

Love,
Sarah

  2. How wonderful! What a sweet way to celebrate the coming of a new child.
What a sweet idea to have Abbie sing and give flowers with Bethany!

  3. The picture of Anna laughing is just priceless!! I think baby needs a picture in their room of his/her momma laughing. Just lovely!!

Mrs. Anna Marie is such a fortunate lady to have family close who loves her and is able to bless her so abundantly. We are praying for a safe and easy delivery…as easy as one can have anyway :-)…and a healthy, happy little one.

    Love you all!

    Lori

  4. Great pictures! Did you curl your hair, Sarah? I thought it was naturally straight.

    Yes, on occasion.

  5. Such a wonderful way to celebrate a new little joy! =) Anna Marie is absolutely glowing…this new baby will be so blessed to have such God-fearing, loving parents. (and grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins!)
    Blessings to all!

  6. How fun!! I can hardly believe the time for baby arrival is getting so close. I know Anna Marie’s family will love to see the photos. It means a lot to long-distance grandparents. Remember the “down south” crew is with you “in heart”. 🙂

  7. What a lovely experience a shower is for a new Mother. We played the string game at my last shower. It really was funny for all. Looks like everyone had a wonderful time. Very thoughtful for the one lady to included the two little ones in the gift giving. That is very important I believe.

  8. How sweet! I like to see festive parties. I’m sure Anna Marie and Christopher felt super blessed with everyone’s generosity. Your hair looked nice, Sarah. Great job, Mary on Abby and Bethany’s outfits. They were pretty and cute!

I like Anna Marie’s hair in that style. It’s so lovely!
The onesie to sign was a cute idea. At a couple baby showers we were at, the past couple years, the host had us sign the diapers (disposable of course) for the baby. Mom wrote on one of them,”Dear Mommy, I am a blessing.”

What a fun night of fellowship and blessing others. Abby and Bethany, it’s wonderful to see you both wanting to bless others.

    God bless! Rebecca K.

  9. Always such beautiful pictures.

Love little girls dresses! Mary did a great job.

Anna Marie looks so happy. Praying for Anna Marie and Melanie to have a quick & easy delivery. I can’t wait to see pictures of the new little ones.

I look forward to each new update. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. God bless you.

  10. What a beautiful shower! I love your game ideas 🙂 will have to keep those for the future. Beautiful job on the dresses Mary!
Praying for the two new little Maxwells :)!!

  11. Awww! Anna Marie is just beautiful and looks so happy! I wish her all the best for a safe and smooth birth and an easy transition to motherhood. Such an exciting time for her. I’m sure you will all help with that when the time comes, but I hope her mama also gets a chance to come out and be with her — I know I wanted my mommy when I became a mommy! I’m looking forward to hearing a birth announcement!

  12. Some very pretty young ladies!! I love your hair do Sarah, it really suits you! And Anna Marie was just glowing! Ooohhh!!! I LOVE baby showers and babies! (expecting my 7th late September.) And A and B were sooo cute. Great job Mary on their dresses!

  13. Anna Marie and Christopher are a beautiful happy couple and they look so joyful in the picture you have posted–so happy awaiting the arrival of their baby. Anna Marie is simply glowing.

It looks like you had a wonderful evening celebrating the mommy-to-be and baby. I thought the frames Anna Marie is holding up were perfect gifts for Christopher, who I am sure will be taking many many delightful pictures of Baby Maxwell. Such fun times ahead for them all.

Melanie is also looking very pregnant and simply glowing, and of course her little girls are adorable. I love the dresses Mary made them. Speaking of dresses, did Anna Marie make the jumper she is wearing and if can I ask what pattern it is? I have been busy sewing and like her jumper very much.

    Blessings, Mrs. Mari

Anna Marie said she found the jumper at a thrift store.

  14. Thank you for the post Sarah, that was lovely what you all did for her. Also you suit curled hair- very elegant, maybe a new look? The day looked so warm and personal, just how a baby shower should be.
I will have to buy the Moody Books to know what you were talking about-sound good.
Jesse Graduated? Wow. I can’t wait to read about that.

  15. It’s such a blessing to see four generations of one family, plus friends and neighbors, gathered together to celebrate a new life! I will continue to pray for Anna Marie, Melanie, and the two Babies Maxwell. 🙂

  16. Thank you for sharing the pics of this happy time with us! We are excited for the new arrival and will be praying!

  17. What a great idea!

I love little gatherings like that! So fun, so meaningful, and not silly!

    Hope everything goes well.

    God bless!

  18. What a fun post! Thank you for sharing Sarah. We do not get to see a lot of the happy couple on your blog, so it was a fun treat to see them both. Love their sweet smiles! Prayers for a safe delivery.

  19. How blessed your family is, to expect TWO new precious bundles!

And Sarah, you look just lovely with your hair styled that way! (But then again, you always look beautiful!)
