Last December, some friends of ours asked if Mom would consider leading a mother/daughter Bible study. As Mom developed the material for the Bible study and started leading it, the Lord also began making it evident to Dad and Mom that this was to be Mom’s next book, which was eventually titled Sweet Journey.
As a surprise and to express their gratefulness to Mom for all she invested in the Bible study, Mrs. C. and her girls made a beautiful quilt. Each of us in the Bible study wrote out a Scripture verse on muslin fabric that was meaningful to us or that we had memorized during the study, on squares, that were placed throughout the quilt. Those squares were then stitched into the quilt. The center blocks were Titus 2:3, 4, and 5. In addition, several of Mom’s favorite verses were also written out and placed into the quilt.
It was with great excitement the gift was given to Mom before Bible study one Wednesday in September. Mom was surprised, thrilled, and overwhelmed at the labor of love expressed by the quilt.
Each one of us in the Bible study has been blessed by Sweet Journey. The Lord has used this study in our lives to change us and draw us closer to Him. The testimonies we are receiving from those who are reading the book bring us to near tears as ladies share what the Lord is doing in their lives.
My mom has walked an amazing path, from being a depressed mom with three children who could hardly wait for us all to be in school and who certainly wasn’t considering having more than three, to being a joyful mom of eight children. By the time she finishes homeschooling, she will have homeschooled for thirty years. In the education arena, she would have received a nice retirement!
The Lord has used Mom to share with ladies across the world. She has been there in the trenches, and she knows what it’s like.
Love,
Sarah
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
What a beautiful keepsake and a tangible reminder for Mrs. Maxwell of the lives that have been touched through her journey and ministering!
What a beautiful quilt! It must be such a blessing to have such a wonderful example of biblical womanhood to follow 🙂
God Bless,

Truly beautiful!
How sweet and kind of you ladies to do that!! What a precious gift! I’m enjoying Sweet Journey. I haven’t gotten very far, but so far I think chapter 3 has the most impact! I like your hair style, Anna Marie. It’s pretty!
God bless! Rebecca K.
What a beautiful and special gift for a wonderful lady!
WOW! As a quilter, I know what a labor of love that was! So beautiful and went to a deserving woman of faith! I know your sweet mom will enjoy it for years to come.
What a wonderful keepsake! Paul’s mom quilts and has made many for the childrens wards in the hospitals in Houston as well as one for each of her children and grandchildren, but this is out of this world wonderful! Have you considered hanging it, or are you going to use it?
I too like your hair down, Anna Marie. I know it is nice to have it up (I have long hair too), but it is pretty down as well. Also, are you guys planning anything to OKC next year? If not, I will just order Sweet Journey.
Hope you are enjoying the beginning of the Christmas season. Love you all.

Blessings. Yes we will hang it soon. There are no plans for OKC at this time.

What a beautiful quilt!
That is just beautiful! What a lovely heartfelt piece of art — a masterpiece! Will you hang it? The hours that went into it is unimagineable. Certainly something to admire daily! What a lovely tribute to you!

We would have bought something to hang it up, but Joseph really would like to build it himself. Hopefully, soon he will be able to.

Oh but how much better her retirement is for the investment she has made!!! Beautiful quilt with such precious meaning.
What a beautiful quilt! I just ordered Sweet Journey through a Canadian distributor. I am looking forward to receiving it!
So beautiful, and everytime you see this you will be reminded of all the lives you have touched, including my own.
Blessings, Mrs. Mari
What a treasure…very beautiful!
What a neat testimony and lovely quilt. I am sure it is an idea that many of us will copy. Thanks for sharing your wonderful stories.
What a beautiful gift! I also sew and quilt, so I can appreciate the time (and love) that went into a project like this. So glad you plan to display it.
What a beautiful quilt for a beautiful, God-honoring lady! 🙂
Hugs, Patti M.
Thanks for sharing the picture of the lovely quilt! I just received Sweet Journey in the mail today and am looking forward to reading it and spending time in the Word.
Please tell Anna Marie that her hair looks beautiful like that!
