Anticipation Builds

This Saturday we will be headed to the Buena Vista, Colorado area!

We are all excited–the Lord opened up doors for what some would term a “vacation,” which would mean we’re not packing conference clothes (we hit the road later in September). This trip is a gift from Grandma and Grandad (Mom’s parents). Thank you, Grandad and Grandma (GiGi).

We’ve been preparing for this trip, physically, for two months. Yes, we exercise normally, but we’ve stepped it up, with all of us doing one or more of the following: running, walking long distances, walking carrying weights, rowing, and other forms of exertion. We plan to do a lot of hiking.

I’ve included a few pictures from a trip we took there back in 2005. It’s been six years!

Love,
Sarah

“Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all” (1 Chronicles 29:11).

Beautiful.

I don't understand how people can think it all just happened. It didn't.

  1. It’s 4:30am here in Alaska, and I’m dealing with a chest cold. I found myself awake and needing to get up for a bit, so I thought I’d catch up on your family blog…good choice! Happy belated birthday, Steve! It looked like you all had a wonderful time at the Safari, and I enjoyed, as always, seeing the pictures of everyone! 🙂 Have a blessed, fun, and restful vacation! Well, I think I’ll try and get a little more rest while the opportunity is still available 🙂 God’s blessings to you all!

  2. Dear Maxwells,
There are fewer places on this earth more beautiful than Buena Vista, Colorado. And a recommendation: if you all wish to do any whitewater rafting during your trip, check out Noah’s Ark, a Christian rafting company.

  3. Just prayed for you this morning about the trip! The first picture is absolutely gorgeous!!! And you’re 100% right!!!!! Anything that beautiful HAS to have had a wise, infinite, loving Designer!!!

Can’t wait to see pictures of it when you go!

    God bless! Rebecca K.

  4. Sounds like so much fun!! I hope to take ( and post!) a lot of pictures! I love the red and blue outfit you have on in the photo, Sarah.

  5. Buena Vista is so beautiful and so peaceful. Will you be backpacking, tent camping, or staying in Uriah? I have backpacked there with my family several times, and every time the area seemed to become even more beautiful than the last.

Praying for safe travels and a wonderful time in Buena Vista. Looking forward to seeing all the pictures you take. Speaking of pictures you take, they would make beautiful cards, if you ever consider making cards to sell.

    Blessings, Mrs. Mari

We will be driving the van and staying in a cabin.

  6. It has been a while since I’ve been able to spend time online so today I was really missing your family! I lov the pictures of the family on Safari! The little girls are growing up and they are so beautiful…and so is everyone else! Have a lovely time on your trip! Blessings, Beth B.

  7. Dear Maxwells,

Buena Vista is the most amazing place!!! My husband’s Grandpa has a cabin there where we spent our honeymoon 22 years ago, and have been back many times since! Our last trip to Buena Vista was in the summer of 2006, but we have made it a goal to get away from the farm and go again soon. My husband and I said, while on our honeymoon, if our marriage was ever in trouble we would go there and work it all out….maybe I should pick a little fight??!! Just kidding ;0)

Enjoy your trip – we will pray for you!

  8. That first photo would make a beautiful jigsaw puzzle! And I agree with a previous poster — you should consider making and selling cards with all the beautiful photos you all take with scripture inside (maybe you already do this?). You have some talented eyes in your family for capturing the beauty of nature and its source and intent.

Safe travels! I look forward to your blog entries!

  9. What a beautiful place! Prayers for safe travels, and I’m eager to see the photos you’ll post from this upcoming trip. 🙂 Blessings from Georgia, Patti M.
