With no “heads up” to the family of my plan, I came in from working on my book, and grabbed my camera. I found the first two in the living room.

We haven’t unveiled this until now, but we’ll spill the beans. Mom has been working hard on a writing project over the last six weeks. The new book is due out sometime in September. Dad believes that her new book will have a greater impact thanΒ Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit, which has been phenomenal. When we have a book cover next month, we’ll probably post that. I wholeheartedly agree with Dad’s thoughts–this book is amazing.

Anna was studying her HTML book. What you don’t see is the delicious dinner Anna had prepared. It was in the fridge waiting to bake: Chicken Enchiladas. She made enough to take to elderly neighbors too; the wife just came home from recovering in a nursing home from a broken hip. Anna also baked them blueberry pies, which they were delighted with too.

Joseph was taking a 10 minute break from work to chat with Dad about something.

Dad at his desk.

Okay, John heard me coming, so he did have a little heads up. Here he is at his computer.

I was told Mary was at Christopher and Anna Marie’s. So, I headed over with my camera in hand.

Jesse was also gone. He was at GiGi and Grandad’s house. GiGi needed to run an errand, so Jesse sat with Grandad and worked on his computer.

I’ve been out in the bus quite a bit, working on Winter Days. This was taken a bit later in the afternoon (thanks, Anna!).
So, there you have it! A summer afternoon at the Maxwells.
Love,
Sarah
“Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds” (Proverbs 27:23).
Thanks for the post! Will pray about Mrs. Maxwell’s book! I can’t imagine what it is! God bless! Rebecca K.
I love your blog updates sarah, I must confess i check it everyday (i know you can’t post everyday). Does Christopher and Anna Marie live close by? I don’t see them in your posts that much any more so i thought they must have moved. Anyway, have fun writing your book sarah and especially your mum- how exciting. π

Christopher and Anna Maria live in between us and Nathan and Melanie.
What a blessing to see you all working so hard on various projects. I hope Mrs Maxwell is writing managers of their budgets, but I’ll be ordering whatever the new book is. Things are certainly not orderly around here – we’ve been down to a skeleton schedule the past two weeks, my son broke his foot and I’ve been busy studying for an important exam (written today) and we’re getting ready to move. However, the Lord is in the middle of the storm too.
Blessings!

Thank you for the post Sarah. It’s winter time here with a fair bit of snow around, so it’s nice to see a glimpse of summer. Your mum’s 1st book has been a real encouragement to me and look forwards to reading & gleaning from her new one. Happy writing & look forwards to your new book too!
2:00? At 2:00PM, today, I was folding comforters at the laundrymat–Our comforters are all king size (down) and I take them to the larger machine at the laundrymat where I can also do them all at one time π
It’s fun to see what you all are up to in the afternoon.

I love your idea…enjoyed the last post too! π
Hope everything goes well with your book, and looking forward to reading it!
I really like these candid snapshots of the day! Very interesting! We’re on edge over here about Teri’s new book. π Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit influenced me so much; I can’t wait to see what’s in store.
Oh no fair, now I will be wondering all summer what your Mum has for us….LOL! I have been so blessed by Meek and Quiet–I look forward to what the Lord is going to bless us with through your Mum next:-) And we can’t wait for another Moody book!
You got me curious now… It sounds wonderful. I love Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit and have even purchased it as gifts for other homeschooling moms. I can’t wait. Sarah, will Winter Days be ready around the same time as your Mom’s new book?

No, my book won’t be out until winter.

Just wondering, other than the Bible, what types of books do some of the maxwell’s read.

We do love the missionary letters that we receive. Mary does on occasion read just a bit if she has time. I believe she is reading Autumn Days. Anna and Jesse are reading a book on HTML. John is reading a book on a certification he is working toward and learning CAD/CAM software (AutoCad). Joseph is working on some new software. Sarah, Teri and I are writing, not reading.

Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I too have given it as a gift. Ugh, it’s cruel to tease us so. LOL. We’re also looking forward to your new book. We’re currently reading aloud Summer Days. Thanks for your ministry.
Thank you so much for posting ! What a blessing that God has led your mother to write another book. I am always encouraged by the pictures and your captions. The Moody books are wonderful. Sarah, would you ever consider doing books for the younger reader ? We love the Jewel Books, but would so like to see similar books with homeschooling families. Thanking you and your family again for your faithfulness and diligence in providing such godly resources.
It’s fun to see what you all are up to. I usually check your blog about once a week, so thanks for the photos and updates! Anyway, looking forward to the next book that Teri is working on. I really enjoyed the first book! I’m also planning on getting the Moody series for our kids, as well. I know they will enjoy them…especially our younger ones. I am thankful for the ministry God has given you all!
God bless,
Jessica
Ooh…excited to hear about your mom’s new book!
What a great snapshot into your daily lives! Thanks for posting. I, too, am excited to see another book from Mrs. Maxwell. She has influenced and encouraged my walk with Christ greatly.
I like AnnaMarie’s apron. It’s very nice.
Nice pictures! It’s fun to see how you spend your days. Just out of curiosity, Sarah, what model of camera do you shoot with?

Thanks for this glimpse into a summer afternoon at the Maxwell home! π Blessings on the writing, and as you continue serving our Lord.
I wanted to let you know what an amazing encouragement the Moody books are to our family! We are reading the first one, Summer with the Moody’s, as our bedtime read-aloud and it has had such an impact on our six year old. He has been relating to his brothers and sisters in a much kinder way (we have six children, 3mo-16yrs). Honestly, I’m even getting parenting tips from reading it. I’m sure you’ve received countless messages just like this one but I thought I’d go ahead and share our gratitude for your blessed work. We can’t wait to read all of the Moody books! In Christ, Emily

I am so excited to hear about the new book coming out this fall! I loved “Homeschooling with a Meek & Quiet Spirit.” Your blog is such a blessing every time I read it. : )
May God bless Teri’s writing project and all those supporting her in large and various ways. I am very excited to read your next realease as always and am exhorted to rise up higher each time!
I’ve been sewing lately and was wondering – is Anna Marie’s apron made from a purchased pattern, or is it something she designed herself?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Anna Marie said it was a gift and so she doesn’t know.
Sorry.
