We did a photo shoot Thursday for the music CD. Obviously, this is not the time of the year to do a photo session outside, so it was planned for indoors. Joseph has been the “lead photographer” and planned out the entire shoot. It took a lot of setting up, and our music room turned into a photo studio. The results of the shoot were incredible. I thought y’all might like to see what the “behind the scenes” pictures looked like. A special “thank you” to Christopher and Kristina for their help!
We are grateful for the Lord’s blessing on the photo shoot. The pictures turned out extremely well.
“And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation” (Psalms 35:9).
We are so blessed that you’re in our family. Your love of the Lord Jesus, devotion to others, servant’s heart, and generous spirit is evident. May God richly bless you in this coming year as you seek to serve Him with your whole heart.
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” (Proverbs 31:10)
A short time ago we posted a picture with Nathan doing a pushup with Abigail on his back during a time when he was responding to a “pushup challenge.†A comment we received on that post asked if the Maxwell men would challenge others because the mom writing wanted to see her sons getting involved in some beneficial physical activity. So that’s the background.
Our family has embraced physical fitness in varying degrees as a way of being good stewards of our health. “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things†(1 Timothy 4:8a). An aspect very important to us is that exercise is kept in balance with the pursuit of godliness.
In discussing this, praying and seeking counsel, we felt we would see if others would like to be challenged to improve their fitness and health in a family-friendly, spiritually beneficial way. Â Through the years our family has sought to do things together as a family and this might be something others would appreciate.
The plan is to begin on February 1st with a push-up challenge for anyone in your family who wants to improve fitness at home. It would be great if it was the whole family, but it might be Dad and his sons, Dad and Mom, just the children, or one only. It isn’t a competition, but everyone “wins†who is willing to work at it. No one is being compared to others, but the goal is for each one to improve from their current level of fitness.
We envision this as something families could really enjoy doing together. So with that introduction, let us know what you think. If there is sufficient interest then we will post again with more information. Comment below if you are interested.
God bless, Steve and Nathan

We love you, John, and we can’t believe you’re 20 today. Time flies! We think back to your actual birth day, and we see the Lord’s protection on your life as you came close to not making it. We praise the Lord that He allowed you to be apart of our family.
Your desire to inspire other young people to follow the Lord is such a blessing. You’ll have many opportunities to share in this coming year.
Happy 20th Birthday!
“The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied”… (Proverbs 19:23).
It’s time for a final report on our recording nights! This time, I (Sarah) came in for a few hours. I’m not so musically inclined (I’ll stick with the Moody books), but there is one song I do some banjo fill-in licks. My younger brothers and sisters do great recording, and I have to admit I was a little nervous. It all worked fine, and the licks mixed in very nicely. We were in the midst of a snow storm, but the Lord blessed with safe travels in and back. Nathan dropped in, and since I was done with my part, I rode home with him. The others came home after midnight, but it was much earlier than the other times!
All the recording is done. One song, in particular, was extremely hard, and took many “takes”–but finally, they ended up with something they were happy with.
Thank you for praying. Below you’ll find some pictures.
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass” (Psalms 37:5).
We’re headed back to the recording studio this afternoon (3 p.m. until ??). We have the main songs recorded, but we have items that need to be redone, which will take awhile. We also will be there to see the first mixing of a song!
Hopefully we won’t be there all night–that’s the goal at least, but things always take longer then one thinks!
We would be so grateful for your prayers for our time at the studio and getting there and back safely as we are having snow today.
“I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving” (Psalms 69:30).
