Engaged

“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.” (Psalms 126:3)

The time our families had together last week was very special. Toward the end of that week I asked Anna to be my wife, and she said “yes!”.

Our current prayer is that God will provide a facility (in Washington) and a date (hopefully in October/November). We also hope to Live Stream the wedding so that those who would like to, but are not able to be with us in person, can still be a part.

We are so grateful for your prayer support as we begin planning a wedding and our future life together. The desire of our hearts is to bring God glory through this process and our life together. We love each other very much, are thrilled that God has brought us together, and look toward the future with excited anticipation.

  3. Congratulations! What wonderful news! God does do marvelous things and here is proof. May he bless you in your journey towards marriage.

  4. Praise God, what a wonderful union. My friends and I have been discussing courtship a great deal and wonder if now that the couple is engaged it is considered appropriate to hold hands (though not kiss). I have heard different perspectives on this. I don’t recall what Nathan and Melanie did but, am wondering if the shift from courtship to engagement makes that acceptable. Just a curiosity as we consider courtship for our now very young children. May God bless and keep all of you as your family continues to provide such a precious example to us all.

Things like how you met, how the courtship was arranged, how you courted long distance, how long the courtship was to last, etc.

When courting, do you usually know the family before hand or is it just a “meet a family once and just know” type of thing??? Have the Hamilton’s been family friends for awhile? We are excitedly watching this process and gathering information for when our children are at that age.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>
Courtship stories will vary tremendously. We have known the Hamiton’s for several years, but have come to know them better since our West Coast trip the first part of this year.

I never knew what is courtship until now. Thanks for sharing as always.

  19. Congratulations to you both! You are a beautiful couple. I have been blessed to read of your courtship and hope you’ll be able to live stream your wedding.

Thank you to all of the Maxwells for this God honoring, multi-generational blog showing God’s provision, faithfulness., and direction in your lives. It is a blessing beyond measure to share your words and pictures with our children as it is one of the few resources we’ve found that encourages them to go in the way that they should go.

  20. So super excited for you Christopher and Anna!!! I love seeing what the Lord has done in bringing you together! I’m also excited that you might be livestreaming it – yay! πŸ™‚ God’s richest blessings as you now deal with the details of everything – may it truly be a joyful time!

  24. Congratulations! How exciting and how very blessed you are to be involved in a Christ centered courtship and now planning a wedding:)
I was just thinking recently about your parents and how very blessed they must feel. To have an entire family, parents and every child, saved and walking with the Lord, takes true commitment and hard work and a lot of prayer. Your whole family is a blessing & encouragement to us all.
Colossians 3:12-17 was inscribed on mine & my husband’s wedding rings almost 20 years ago. We truly believed then, as new Christians, that if we lived our lives with that Scripture reference as a guide, that the Lord would bless our marriage…and He did! May God richly bless yours as well.

  25. Congrats! We are very excited for you both! So excited to see your wedding Streamed!

    May God Bless your union!

    In Christ,
    Kalyn D.

  26. Congratulations! Thank you so much for your courtship posts. I know that courtship varies greatly, and I’m interested in learning more about it. I look forward to reading more about Christopher and Anna, in whatever they feel comfortable to share an teach us. I also look forward very much to “attending” the wedding online.

  27. Congratulations! We rejoice with you in His handiwork in your lives. This is a story of waiting on Him for His very best and for all for His glory. We are encouraged by your surrender to the Lord.
    Blessings,
    The S’s

  28. Congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing some details of your courtship on your blog. It’s so encouraging to those of us who are younger and hoping for our children to go in the same direction. I’m very happy for you!

  29. To God be the glory… for your willingness to wait on Him…for your desire to honor Him in your courtship and engagement…May your love continue to flourish.

  30. Though I have never met you and your family, my life has been greatly changed and blessed to watch the Lord being glorified in your lives! Thank you! It is so refreshing to see two Christian young people honor the Lord through courting and now being engaged. I pray with all my heart that my husband and I will keep our children’s hearts guarded and nurtured in the Lord as they grow and mature. Whatever path the Lord has for them, to remain single and serve or married and serve, I pray that they will strive to glorify God always! Thank you for your testimony and commitment to the Lord!

    In Christ,
    Kris

  31. Congratulations! I am so happy for both of you! God bless you both as you prepare for your wedding day… we are looking forward to being able to watch the wedding – that is so neat!

  32. What joyful news! I have watched a few courtship weddings in my blog travels and I have gleaned something different out of every one. This is the path that we intend for our 3 children and the learning and planning has already begun. How wonderful of you to share your day with your readers. May the Lord bless you both as you prepare for the wedding day and beyond.

  33. Such special news ! Congratulations to both Mr. Christopher and Ms. Anna ! May God richly bless both you and your marriage to come. πŸ™‚ And such exciting news about the live stream. That would be really sweet to be able to watch their wedding/

  34. Such wonderful news! My husband and I were wed just 13 months ago and so I remember well how exciting the engagement period is! There are many wonderful moments awaiting you both in the near future!

  35. Dear Maxwells,

My family is very excited for you! We are also very, very encouraged from Christopher and Anna’s example of ”no touching”! My sister and I are planning to do that, Lord willing when our time comes! It was wonderful to watch the courtship! Thank you sooo much for being a wonderful example of purity! God bless! Rebecca K & family

    P.S.
Can’t wait to see the wedding!

  36. Hooray! I am so glad for ALL of you! Especially the new couple. Marriage is so wonderful!!! Joy upon joy.

  38. My eyes just welled up with happy tears when I saw the sweet picture of Anna and Christopher together. I am praying that the Lord will bless you with a wonderful engagement period where your love for each other continues to deepen and a blessed, fulfilling God-honoring marriage in the future. Your whole family is just so precious to me… I truly feel as if we are dear friends (even though I was never able to get those books out to you and I still feel awful about it! πŸ™ eeek) I look forward to watching the wedding on the computer- the girls and I wouldn’t miss it for the worldΓ’β„’Β₯
