A Request for Prayer

I’ve needed to write a blog post for a few weeks now and update everyone on where we’re at. First, and most importantly, Melanie is pregnant. That’s the good news! She’s 15 weeks along, and we’ve heard the baby’s heartbeat a couple times now. I feel like I should put something in right here along the lines of a reason for not posting sooner. I could blame busyness, work pressures/deadlines and the like … but instead I’ll just apologize for being late with this.

The challenging news is that we suspect she’s having complications again. She’s on bedrest, and we’re taking things day by day. Tonight in our family Bible time we read Ephesians 3 — we are desiring that He would do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. What we’re seeing may turn out to be nothing, but based on Melanie’s history we’re concerned and watching.

We would be so grateful for your prayers.

Nathan

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”
(Ephesians 3:20).

  4. I have been thinking of you both during the past couple of weeks. I wish you both the very best. My hope is that God keeps this baby here and not in heaven. Let the baby enjoy a long life, then go to our heavenly father.

  15. Congratulations!! Praise the Lord for this sweet little blessing:) I’m praying that God would see fit to keep this little one in Melodie’s womb for the whole 9 months, and that the little one would be born safely and be healthy!!

I’ve also posted your prayer request on my prayer blog.

    Blessings to your precious family,
    Jenna

  16. With so much love and many prayers. I don’t want to be presumptious or over step bounds but as a nurse and have watched many friends struggle with pregnancy complications….I just want to make sure that Melanie is being cared for by a high risk physician and that her horomone levels are being monitored because sometimes after several miscarriages, physicians are able to help sustain pregnancies by helping particular hormone levels stay where they need to for particular times during the pregnancy. Obviously, I have no idea if this is the case with dear Melanie but I have seen friends who have gone through several miscarriages and then be able to have sucessful outcomes because God allowed physicians to be able to prescribe the right dose at the right time. Know that I am praying for your sweet family.

Thank you so much for your concern. Melanie is under the care of a number of professionals! Sarah

  17. We’ll be praying. Your family does such a wonderful job of glorifying God, even in trials.

  18. I’ve stopped by this site from time to time but have never commented. I have tried some of your recipes (to rave reviews!) and perused the parenting advice in Mom and Dad’s corners to share with my husband. I especially appreciate Steve and Teri’s thoughts on husband-and-wife prayer and family Bible reading, which we are trying to incorporate into our daily routine.

I am 15 weeks along with our first child right now, so I am particularly moved by Melanie’s story, more than I can put into words right now. I’ll be thinking of you and praying for you daily!

  19. I am thrilled for your family! I pray for you all the time, and this is an answer to my prayers as well! I am so happy to hear that Melanie is expecting again, and I will be praying for her, and claiming the promise of Ephesians 3 right along with your family. Praise the Lord!

  20. We will keep you in prayer:)
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
    James 5:16b

  21. We will pray for a healthy pregnancy and for the health of Melanie as well. God bless your sweet family. 🙂

  22. I will pray your Ephesians verse for Melanie, and this one also popped into my head, from Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” I like that we are invited to come boldly!! My bold prayers will be with you.

  23. Blessings! It’s now been 4 weeks since you posted this and things are going well. I recieved a note and picture from Melaine this week and I cried, happy tears, when she let us know she was pregnant. I am so happy for you, and we will keep you in our daily prayers.

    Blessings, Mrs. Mari
