True JOY

We had been looking forward to this night and were not disappointed! We started out at 6:00. The temperature was 34 degrees – nice and warm compared to last year! We were very grateful that it was not near as cold as it has been some years, and we stayed very comfortable with our cold weather layers on.

Because of the cold and snow, we took the small camera out with us.
Because of the cold and snow, we took the small camera out with us. Here we are caroling to Grandad and Grandma who weren't able to come with us, because of their health and the snow.

It was so beautiful because it snowed the whole time we were out. It was the perfect caroling night, and of all the places we stopped, I think only one or two people weren’t home! We sang Joy to The World at every house, and it was such a blessing to be able to sing about the true JOY that has come into the world.

Caroling to Nathan and Abigail. Abigail was getting over a cold, so Nathan stayed home with her. We were happy that Melanie could join us for part of the time!

It was gorgeous walking in the snow. This picture doesn't quite justify the beauty of that night!

It's hard to take pictures at night in the snow, because the flash reflects off the snow! Nathan took this picture when he and Abigail came to pick up Melanie.

We then piled into our two small cars (since we no longer have a van because we traded it in when we bought the bus two years ago)! It was a bit of a chore getting nine bundled-up people to fit into the ten available seats! We wanted to carol to three more houses before the night was over. We always return home after our caroling evening feeling so blessed and with our hearts overflowing. We are ever grateful for the opportunity to show Jesus’ love to those around us!

In Christ,
Anna

  1. What a precious post! We are going to do the same thing…with cookies and on a much smaller scale! I’m thinking of putting verses on the cards…kind of in order with “For unto you is born this day…” and then adding John 3:16 and then “For by Grace are ye saved…”
I don’t know exactly…I will get my husband’s advice and help!
We hosted the 5th and 6th grade Sunday School class at Valentine’s Day and made cookies and cards with verses and the plan of Salvation on it last year because we were inspired by your Christmas outreach to YOUR neighbors! We passed them our to our neighbors. It was fun and a wonderful way to encourage the girls to be missionaries in their own area!
Thank you for your wonderful ministry!
    Love,
    Beth (Merry Christmas!!!)

  2. Wonderful! And what a beautiful night for it!!! I wish we lived near enough that you could stop by our house. 🙂 God bless you all!

  3. Isn’t the snow lovely? I especially love it from the inside, sitting my thr fire reading a good book. We’re expecting snow here anytime.

    Blessings, Mrs. Mari

  4. I would wish nothing more than to have a group of carolers come to my door! What a blessing! And you are a big group — I’ll bet your sound is beautiful! Caroling is a lost art in my part of the country, so it is inspiring to see you bless your neighbors so! Thanks for sharing this post!

  5. Hey, it looks like you guys had a really great night of caroling.
I noticed Joseph took his guitar along again. Did it stay in tune ok?
Also, I hope your Grandad and Grandma are’nt feeling too poorly.
I am keeping your family in prayer.
    Chrissy.

Joseph took an old guitar out, not his nice one :-). It stayed semi-in tune, but at least it did the job!

  6. Looks like fun! 😀 I’m surprised you could take the Guitar! Wow, haha. 🙂 I’d be afraid mine would crack or something–with it being only 34 degrees! haha. 🙂 God bless!
