Decks and Cement Work!

What originally was going to be just a new deck to be built at Nathan and Melanie’s house grew into a bigger project. Starting Monday morning, Joseph and John, who are heading the project, began the task, which involved breaking out cement chunks from their “cement pad.”

They’ve invested many hours over the past few days in tearing out cement, preparing forms for the new cement pad plus a wonderful sidewalk to the shed, pouring cement, working on drainage (Nathan was having water in his basement previously), and much more! The building of the deck should begin tomorrow. It’s such a delight to see my brothers working hard together, enjoying it, and doing such a quality job!

Since this had all started from just a deck, and it grew as discussion ensued and ideas, it was decided to do a sidewalk to the shed. Jesse was able to help after school, and hes diligently helped as much as he can in the afternoon and into the evening.

  1. You are all such hard workers! What a good example to other young men. We are having major construction going on at our home right now involving concrete and I know it isn’t easy work to get it right. Bless you all!

  2. Wow, thats quite the project! Is there anything you guys cant do? Ha ha. Nathan and Melanie are blessed to have you guys as helpers.
It looks like the weather is still pretty nice where you are which is always nice when your working outdoors.
We had our first snow yesterday, but thats Canada for you I guess.
Hope everything goes well with building the deck tomorrow 🙂

  3. i just wanted to thank you for your ministry- i turn to your site often when i need encouragement, inspiration, and blogs that speak the truth from the truth not from opinion or even “personal experience” tainted with our personal ideas of what we want God to say. I really connected with your mom’s corner tonight about walking in the light…i especially liked the idea that we need to be careful who we follow, and even what blogs we read, etc. I tend to find this so true for ME. i will find a nice, pretty Christian blog and start following it only to really read it more and find out how many women out there are putting their own twist on scripture and picking and choosing what they think He is saying to them, in order to continue what they might be doing or thinking, and saying that is what God is saying to them..Sorry if i am rambling- just wanted to say thank you for your writings and staying as close to the bible as i have found out here in blog-land!

  4. What wonderfully workers these young men are. We are currently looking for a new home, one without stairs, and today we looked at one and the first thing we both said was, “It needs a new deck.” Wish the boys were closer.

Looks like you are enjoying beautiful fall weather right now.

    Blessings, Mrs. Mari

  5. What a nice job the guys are doing! I love the little curvy sidewalk back to the shed!
Isn’t it nice when family works together in such a loving and fun way? I love it when my girls are working together in our kitchen!
Thanks for your blog…Blessings to you!
