Sharing Through Music and Testimony

Tuesday, we went to an assisted care facility here in town and sang! It was such a thrill to see the joy on the elderly people’s faces as they listened eagerly to what was being shared and sang. We also enjoyed seeing two of the residents that had been at the nursing home where we have church who are now living at the assisted care facility.

It was a cozy room :-) .

Talking afterward

I got the privilege of talking to a 101 year old lady. She had such a sweet personality as she told me about her experiences when she grew up in Alaska by the Yukon. Her father was in the military, so they lived in the fort, and she also told me how the military men tamed a bear. She said that the bear especially liked candy! I cannot imagine how different society was 100 years ago than it is now. It is always a privilege getting a glimpse of what life was like back then, and ministering to the older saints.

Delighting in Jesus,

“The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow…” (Psalms 146:9)

  1. Hi Maxwell’s! Wow! What a blessing! I am sure they all enjoyed hearing you all sing! =:D Anna, neat! 101 years old and she grew up in the Alaskan Yukon! Amazing! It is such a joy to be able to reach out to the elderly. My family loves to go to nursing homes and chat with everyone. We have such a pleasant time!

    Blessings to you all!

  3. I think it so great that you guys take the time to do what you do.
Its easy to tell from the pictures that you really enjoy it.
May God continue to bless your family.

  4. Hello Maxwell Family. Thank you for the Chicken & Rice Casserole recipe. My family really enjoyed it. I hope you are all settled into your new home, what a blessing for your family.

  5. What a wonderful family activity! I especially enjoyed this post, as I have always had a heart for the elderly. When I was in my early twenties (many years ago!) I enjoyed visiting a nursing home (in the Atlanta area) on a regular basis. I would just sit and visit with the residents, and sometimes play the piano for them. I felt as if they were ministering to me! ~Then before my precious Mom passed away she was in a nursing home, and she and the other residents loved for visitors to come (especially children). I think we can learn so much from the older saints (how wonderful Anna was able to visit with the 101-year-old lady!!!). ~ May the Lord bless you all as you are a blessing to others ~ Patti M. 🙂

  6. Thanks for sharing, we have just recently started to sing at the nursing home twice a month and the elderly people have really enjoyed it. It has been a great way to reach out to them and for our children too. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing, Anna.
