Homeward Bound!

Walking out of the hotel in the dark this morning, Anna and I both thought how it felt and looked like winter. Soon, the bus was loaded for the last time this trip, and we were quickly on our way! After being gone 5 weeks, we are anxious to be home again, but oh, what wonderful memories we have of these past weeks. Truly, we love serving together as a family.

We just drove through Indianapolis, which is about nine hours from home. Lord willing, we should be back late afternoon.

Thank you so much for all of you who have been praying for our family during this trip. Time and time again we have felt those prayers. We’ve gone through a lot of traffic  (Uriah doesn’t have any marks to show for that 🙂 ), we stayed quite healthy (only two had minor colds in the middle) until the end (and now several are quite miserable), we saw so many hearts open to the message, and much more!

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Men, Discussing the Word

If only more men in our land would spend their time discussing God's Word and the practical application of it to their lives! As a side note, Dad hasn't been using his crutches, but is still favoring his knee.

The Last Conference on This Trip

It’s hard to believe that the conferences are all finished, and we are headed home—almost 🙂 . We are going to take Uriah back to the place that worked on it this summer to get our leaks fixed, among a few other things.  We’re here in Columbus, Ohio, for the bus work, and hopefully tomorrow everything can be taken care of, and we’ll be on our way home Tuesday.

Time for our final conference report 🙂 .

Lighthouse Gospel Church was situated in the small town of Port Burwell, just down the street from the shores of beautiful Lake Erie. We are grateful for this church hosting the conference.

Friday night held a full house. Even the balcony was being used, and several children were lined up, watching through the glass partition. Saturday again brought many families, even some that had driven awhile to come yet that morning. Those attending the conference were an incredible group, with hearts that were very open.

Several children shared with me how much they have enjoyed the Moodys, and one girl said they actually named their dog “Maple” after the dog in the book 🙂 . It is such a delight to see the joy in the children’s faces as they talk about the Moody books.

There were many young families at the conference, and it was wonderful to see all the little ones, and their parents who desired to raise their families for our Lord Jesus. There were also several older couples that came, and the ladies shared with Mom what a blessing the sessions had been.

Truly, our hearts are very full with how the Lord Jesus has worked on this trip. May He bring lasting fruit.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).

The Trip Winds Down

We are now on our last weekend conference for this trip. We’ll report on that when the weekend is finished, but we want to give a quick overview of our last two conferences: Wednesday night in Plain City, and Thursday night in Flint, Michigan.

Plain City was another wonderful conference. Set up went smoothly, and several families had brought in a delicious dinner for us.

Often parents will be in the back of a session with a little one. Anna captured this moment (Notice the purple ruler on the floor near the little girl? She was playing with Mary's ruler.)

A surprise highlight for me was seeing a girl (Hi, Hannah!!) whom I occasionally write and who has liked the Moody books.  I enjoyed meeting her “in person”.

We drove several hours to Flint, Michigan, Thursday morning. The weather had cooled down, making it a much more pleasant drive 🙂 . Michigan was the final state for we children to visit of the 48 continental states.

Anna held a three-month old baby during part of a session, and I know she was thinking about being able to hold our little niece very soon. A special treat for our family was meeting our copy editor, who has done almost all of our books.

We had our hardest border crossing yet today; we had the the paperwork ready, but it took about 45 minutes for the agency to process it, because several people were in line ahead of us. We were grateful we didn’t have a long drive, and we arrived here in Port Burwell mid-afternoon. More on the conference later!

For those of you who are waiting for those recipes posts, we will try to post the first one next week!

A Common Sight

This is a common site at the book table: children love the Moody books!

A common sight at the book table! Children love the Moody books (and the opportunity to visit with Sarah at the book table)! And we love to hear the stories of children and families who  have been impacted for the Lord Jesus Christ as a result of reading the books.

My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day;
for I know not the numbers thereof.
