A Taste Away from Home: Ham Delights

Ham Delights
the M Family, Virginia

Yields: Approximately 50 small Ham Delights

½ stick melted butter
¼ teaspoon mustard (yellow)
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon poppy seed
½ cup mayonnaise
1 small, finely chopped onion
1/3 pound shredded Swiss cheese
1 pound shredded ham (Can be shredded in a food processer)
About 50 small rolls (homemade or storebought)

Mix all the ingredients together. Cut open the rolls and spread the ham mixture inside. If you’re going to eat the ham delights right away, place them on a baking sheet and put them in 350 degree oven till they’re warmed through. If you aren’t going to eat them right away, wrap them (the roll with mixture) in foil, and put them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use them, then put them in the oven. Enjoy!

  1. Sounds good. One question- this really makes 50? That’s very economical with 1 pound ham and 1/3 pound cheese. Enjoy your site.

The family who gave us the recipe said 50 is correct. They are small rolls, so if you want to use a little bigger rolls, than it’ll make less :-). We haven’t made this for ourselves yet, but it was delicious when we had it in VA! ~Sarah

  2. Can these be frozen?

    —————-
Hello, Mrs. Millie :-). No, I don’t believe so. Before our last trip, I did some research on freezing a tuna fish/mayo mixture, and I read that you can’t, because the mayo doesn’t come out right after being frozen. So, since the mixture has mayo in it, I would guess you can’t. Blessings~Sarah

  3. Yes – you can freeze them. They freeze very well – we find these are great for breakfast during the holidays – just freeze in foil of groups of 6-9, and then you can pop the packet in the oven!

  4. These are delicious! I have only had the mix on crackers though, what rolls do you use or do you have a receipe that works well?
