It’s Off!

August 1st was a day of special significance for several in our family, namely Dad, Mom, and me. It represented the deadline of a new resource project.

I remember well the evening back in May, when I was driving back from Home Depot with Dad. We were having a wonderful time of fellowship, and our conversation drifted to a topic that Dad and Mom felt that it was time to write about. Dad mentioned that he would like to have the book done this summer to take on our fall trip, and Mom’s school time would be freed up with summer arriving.

It didn’t seem possible to accomplish, but the next day, Dad called a family meeting without telling us what it was about. He had our curiosity aroused, but he did tell us it didn’t have to do with matrimony :-). That evening, he shared about the project the Lord had laid on his and Mom’s hearts, and asked if we children were in support and if we would be willing to pitch in and take care of Mom’s responsibilities so she could write. We all joyfully agreed, and so the project began, back in May.

The last few months have been quite busy because Dad and Mom have spent many, many hours working on the project. I became involved with it this month because I format the book and do a lot of proofreading. The last two weeks have been very intense as Mom and I have worked to wrap it up.

(Mom and I Thursday afternoon, with book copies in hand.)

Yesterday afternoon, with a happy and relieved heart, the book was sent to the printer—praise the Lord! I’ll give you a peek of a bit of text from the back cover :-).

Joyfully His,

Have you ever wanted to sit down with an experienced homeschooling couple and ask them every question you could think of about homeschooling? Managers of Their Schools: A Practical Guide to Homeschooling is the next best thing. With eight children and twenty-three years as a homeschooling family, the Maxwells share their answers to the questions they are frequently asked.

  1. I’m sooooo excited about this new resource. I can’t wait to glean from your years of experience. When can I get a copy?

We are going to bring them with us on the fall trip and announce them in the Corners after we return home the last half of October. We haven’t decided if we will add it to the shopping cart before then.

    In Christ Jesus,

  3. That sounds so interesting!! I look forward to seeing/purchasing a copy when you come to Straffordville in the fall, Lord willing. πŸ˜€

  4. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be able to have such an awesome resource. We’re just starting out on our homeschooling journey and have so many questions. I know October isn’t that far away, but I’ll confess I’m hoping you do decide to add the book to the shopping cart before the trip. I’ll place an order the minute it’s available! πŸ™‚

  5. Oh, this sounds wonderful! I look forward to when it will be available online! I have never been disappointed with any of the books we’ve bought from your family (now, if I could only persuade you to write more children’s chapter books… πŸ™‚ )

Mrs. Mae~Most of the outline for Moodys #5 is done, but I still have some more work to do on it. I’m hoping to begin writing next month :-).

What a great resource for homeschooling families. I am so happy the Lord put it on your hearts to help the families who are so excited to homeschool, but nervous too! God Bless.

  12. Oh I can’t wait to get a copy!!!! And I read the great news of a Moody #5 book– I won’t even tell the children because they will be asking too often if it is done yet. Looking forward to both!

  13. Very excited about this new homeschooling resource AND the new Moody book. I know you won’t be coming out west this fall so please let me know via e-mail when this is available to purchase online. I have for several years now been interested in hearing your family’s thoughts on homeschooling.

    In Him,

The only email notification we will be able to do is via the November Corners. Prior to that, it will appear sometime in the shopping cart. This way it would spread out orders and not have a big surge while Grandma and Grandad are shipping for us while we are traveling. I hope you understand.

    In Christ Jesus,

  14. I am definitely looking forward to having this book! Your resources are wonderful!
I’m also glad to read in the comments that Sarah is working on book 5 of the Moody series! Yippee!! Now that we all know, can we lovingly “hound” you about it?? Just kidding! I truly adore those books knowing there is not going to be one even slightly offensive thing in them. What a blessed relief.

    Blessings to your whole family,
    Jill J

  18. You can’t imagine how many times I have wished we could just come stay with you for a weekend and sit at your feet!!!
I am looking forward to your new book.
P.S. My 5 year old just saw the picture of Sarah and Teri and said “she’s the one that ate the paper” Huh??? My 8-yr old reminded me of the cheese wrapper from your trip! These little minds are sponges!!! πŸ™‚

  19. Our family feels so incredibly blessed that we were asked to be a test family for this new book. The truth is, the Lord has lead our family to homeschool starting in our hearts but did not become fully clear for me until I read the Maxwell’s literature from their website this past March. The clear reasons the Lord wanted this for us became concrete. As a mom who was a teacher myself in the Christian school, I would have been pulled in different directions even after making the commitment to homeschooling. This book prevented mistakes from being made before we even made them. How can I thank the family that has been used directly by our Saviour to lead us to His will. “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Matthew 12:50. Truly you are our brothers and sisters!
This book is a gift from the Lord and I know it will be a huge blessing. For us it was His perfect timing and clearly His provision. If you are homeschooling, you cannot afford to NOT purchase this book.
I would love to blog more, but have been advised (via her literature) to spend more time with my family by Terri, which I really have taken to heart. I consider Terri such a spiritual mentor to me, and will be forever grateful.
    In Christ Jesus,
Bless you. We are so grateful you would help by reading and commenting on the book.
    In Christ Jesus,

  20. I can’t wait! It could be an answer to prayer. What is the soonest I can read it????
We are hopeful to receive it back from the printer the end of next week. We will put it in the shopping cart.
    In Christ Jesus,
